Who we are looking for
Germany Head of Fund Accounting, MD is a key leadership position within the EMEA Fund Accounting Team in Global Delivery. You will be responsible for the management and delivery of the entire suite of accounting services to clients in Germany. The accounting team is responsible for delivering core services to State Street end customers. The Fund Accounting function is directly accountable for positive and consistent service delivery and client outcomes. Reporting to the EMEA Head of Fund Accounting and ensuring services are meeting or exceeding State Street Standards globally.
This positions primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Germany KVG accounting services including managing the multiple service teams on SimCorp which are part of the daily net asset value calculation
Maintaining client books and records in accordance with agreed accounting standards
This role will involve active engagement with and formal oversight of the Poland Outsource Service Provider
As part of the EMEA FA Leadership Team, responsibilities may extend beyond Germany as the business requires
Business ownership of third party Fund Accounting applications e.g. SimCorp
What you will be responsible for
As a Fund Accounting Managing Director you will ensure
Accounting activities are performed, and services are delivered to clients in accordance with all contractual and client service level agreements. Focus on client outcomes, problem solving, cooperating and communicating with rest of organization to achieve shared success
High standards of accuracy and timeliness, delivering services in an efficient and controlled manner with a continuous focus on improving quality and productivity. Ensure timeliness and accuracy of NAV calculations. Does not include AIS accounting services.
Operating policies, procedures and controls are documented, adhered to and are compliant with relevant SOC/ISAE controls and regulatory requirements.
Key metrics, performance and risk indicators are in place to track volumes, manage growth, service delivery quality, cost, productivity, efficiency and risk. Identify and develop opportunities for transformation and capacity creation. Drive productivity and operational effectiveness
Financial performance to operating plan, forecasts are accurate, headcount and expenses are actively managed and agreed efficiency targets are achieved
Fund Accounting are appropriately represented, prepare for and actively participate at client meetings, presentations and due diligence reviews.
Business continuity planning and execution. Development of a scalable, robust operating model that delivers resiliency. Strategic interactions with key stakeholders and partners to ensure continued operations.
Develop and lead a large team, fostering high performance and creating a destination for top talent. Develop effective modes of communication, delegation, talent development, employee engagement, and succession planning.
Control, risk, compliance/ethics and internal audit reviews or inspections are fully supported and there are no open or overdue actions for accounting.
What we value
This is a key position and requires senior leadership and advanced skills in areas such as:
A proven track record at a senior global level in asset servicing or asset management. Over 15 years' leadership experience within operations and or technology
Navigate a large, global organization. Build meaningful relationships and develop an effective network
Able to process feedback and develop meaningful actions to resolve identified challenges along reasonable timescales
Solid technical knowledge of accounting and fund services. Deep experience interfacing at a senior level with clients across product segments, market trends, third party managers and regulators
Proven leadership skills as well as managing and developing a high performing operations team
Exceptional communication and relationship management skills, with an ability to think strategically, manage complexity, significant change and multiple key priorities.
Excellent time management, presentation skills and communication to multiple levels (clients, other 3rd parties, executives, peers, subordinates). Flexibility across multiple communication formats
Proven track record of achieving/exceeding financial goals through expense discipline and headcount management
Cross-cultural awareness and the ability to connect with colleagues globally in a collaborative, open work environment. To serve as a role model of acceptance and flexibility in dealing with colleagues with varying backgrounds.
Willingness for regular business travel
Education & Preferred Qualifications
15 years + experience in financial services, presently in a leadership role managing large operations
Technical knowledge of fund accounting activities and associated regulations
Experience interfacing at a senior level with Clients, service providers and Regulators
