The Functional Analyst – Data will support the Sysco Technology Archive, a centralized repository of legacy HR data. This role works closely with archive team developers and designers to extract, validate, and organize data from legacy systems no longer in use. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, hands-on with data, and experienced in collaborating across technical and functional teams.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with developers and designers to extract, cleanse, and transform HR data from legacy systems for archival.
Act as a liaison between business stakeholders and the archive team to gather and document data requirements.
Analyze legacy data structures and determine mappings to the Sysco Technology Archive format.
Perform data validation and quality checks to ensure integrity and completeness of archived data.
Assist with creating functional documentation, data dictionaries, and mapping specifications.
Support data migration and conversion activities by translating business needs into technical specifications.
Participate in testing and validation cycles to ensure accurate migration and retention of historical HR data.
Troubleshoot data-related issues and support post-archival inquiries from business units.
Provide input on process improvements and automation opportunities in the archival workflow.
Education
Bachelor's degree in information systems, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or a related field.
3+ years of experience as a data or functional analyst, preferably in HR or enterprise systems.
Excellent communication skills in English (B2+ or higher) and ability to collaborate across functions and geographies.
Skills
Strong understanding of data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes.
Familiarity with HR systems and data structures (e.g., PeopleSoft, SAP, Workday, or similar).
Ability to read and interpret database schemas, ERDs, and legacy data formats.
Strong SQL skills for querying and validating data across multiple sources.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a strong attention to detail.
Familiarity with programming languages such as Java.
Experience documenting functional and technical specifications.
Effective communicator with the ability to work cross-functionally and explain complex data concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Comfortable working in agile, collaborative team environments.
Familiarity with security for objects/tables in SQL.
