Full-stack Software Engineer

Toronto, Ontario Full time

This role offers the opportunity to build modern, cloud‑based and AI‑enabled applications that help Manulife make decisions easier and lives better. As a Full‑Stack Software Engineer, you will contribute to the development and delivery of scalable software solutions, partnering with engineers, product teams, and designers. You will gain hands‑on experience working on enterprise applications while growing your skills in modern technologies and AI.

Position Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain full‑stack applications across the development lifecycle

  • Contribute to building and integrating AI‑enabled features, including Generative AI services, following security and responsible AI practices

  • Develop and support user interfaces, APIs, and backend services for scalable applications

  • Apply engineering best practices including code quality, testing, and CI/CD processes

  • Collaborate with team members on design, code reviews, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement

Required Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience in software or full‑stack development using technologies such as React, Python, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, and REST APIs

  • Experience with cloud‑based application development or support

  • Foundational knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and object‑oriented programming

  • Experience working with relational and/or NoSQL databases

  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, DevSecOps concepts, and automated testing frameworks

  • Exposure to AI or Generative AI integration (e.g., Azure OpenAI, LLM‑based services)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure)

  • Familiarity with microservices or API‑driven architectures

  • Exposure to Agile or DevOps ways of working

  • Basic understanding of secure coding practices

  • Strong problem‑solving and communication skills

Salary range is expected to be between

$86,100.00 CAD - $136,100.00 CAD

Employees also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn incentive compensation tied to business and individual performance. The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training.
