Virtual Recall provides software solutions for veterinary practices to better communicate with their clients, improving animal health and welfare, whilst reducing in-practice workload. We continually develop the software to ensure we can deliver a market leading solution to our customers across the globe. This role will primarily be develop new features across our software full stack. The software development team work within an Agile framework with fortnightly sprints to deliver on targets. The successful candidate will work with 8 additional team members to maintain a high-level product quality through collaboration, code reviews and shared knowledge and experience. The successful candidate will be able to quickly pick up concepts and learn the significant amount of existing product code, without reliance on complete documentation or require a detailed specification to develop against. They will be a strong communicator with excellent English language speaking.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Percent of Time

Developing new features across the full stack, but maintaining a focus on the web portal and API, expanding the product and developing new features

Upgrades to replaced deprecated or obsolete packages, and assist in transition to new hosting architecture.

Reporting to and working with a Software Development Manager or Head of Software and Technology, working within an Agile framework with fortnightly sprints to deliver on targets. Delegating tasks to appropriate team members and successfully managing projects at every stage

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

• You will interact with the rest of the development team on a regular basis. Collaboration and communication are a key requirement for this role.
• You may also assist our support engineers on a third line support basis, and work with the Senior Technical Director on product development.
• For front end UI design, you may also work with external design agencies.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Education - Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, Computer Engineer, Mathematics, Statistics or closely related field

Experience - BS degree and a minimum 3-5 years of experience as a full stack developer or MS degree and 2 years of experience as a full stack developer

TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIREMENTS

• Must have extensive experience dealing in: C# / MSSQL / ASP.NET MVC / Entity Framework / AngularJS / React / Web API / JQuery / Git
• Excellent comprehension and communication skills to work within our small team of sales, support, and our team of developers.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills, with quick comprehension, and comfort expressing ideas and concepts.
• Must have a keen eye for detail, and a meticulous approach.
• Must be comfortable taking critical feedback to achieve the best solutions for the needs of the business and our customers.

PHYSICAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Regular working hours minimum of 5 hours overlap with UK working hours
