Full Stack Developer - Prototyping & Innovation

What is the opportunity?

Are you interested in working as a Full Stack Developer on the Wealth Management Europe Innovation Team in Technology & Operations at the Royal Bank of Canada?

RBC`s Wealth Management Europe Innovation Team is responsible for prototyping, designing and implementing new technology within the Wealth Management Europe business and IT. The team looks for new technologies like AI, quantum computing and experimental technology to be assessed for use cases within the business.

You will work with developers on various projects and will research and analyze business, technical and system needs in order to resolve system issues by recommending technology solutions that meet business user needs.

Our team is looking for a Full Stack Developer who is excited to collaborate on a cross-skilled team to delivery high quality features and functionality that support our ever growing needs.

What will you do?

• Develop, enhance, and document solutions using technologies.
• Design thinking exercises to align the right technology to the problem presented.
• Present technical topics at regular meetings. Specifically, describing any new projects, the challenges on those projects, and the approaches taken to implement solutions.
• Write white papers summarizing key findings and recommended approaches.
• Participate and actively engage in agile meetings such as demoing work to stakeholders, raising and resolving impediments, and understanding/estimating intended work
• Lead and mentor junior developers in creating prototype applications for stakeholders
• Evaluate new processes and assess whether they will be a good addition to the tech stack
• Code review, security review and remediation of critical vulnerabilities

 
What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

• BSc in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent.
• Excellent interpersonal and highly developed communication skills (verbal and written).
• Creative and analytical thinker who is interesting in tackling hard to solve problems.
• Experience starting a project from scratch to build prototypes that can be implemented.
• Expert knowledge of at least one backend framework such as Python (FastAPI, Flask, etc), Java (Spring, Spring Boot, etc) NodeJS (Express, etc).
• Expert knowledge of at least one frontend framework such as React, NextJS, Angular, etc
• Experience deploying applications to a cloud platform. (Kubernetes, OCP, Azure, etc).
• Knowledge of AI concepts and implementations (Apache Spark, Databricks, Sagemaker)
• Knowledge of DevOps concepts and tools (git, GitHub Actions, Sonar, Artifact Management).
• Knowledge of databases (SQL or NoSQL).
• Knowledge of data storage, transfer and manipulation.

Nice-to-have

• Experience coaching and mentoring junior staff.
• Experience supporting applications in a productions environment.
• Experience working with Generative AI and Machine Learning systems.
• Experience supporting and maintaining APIs.
