About the Role 

We are seeking a proactive Fulfilment Technology Apprentice to join the Engineering Support Team within a highly automated Customer Fulfilment Centre. The role involves carrying out both planned and reactive maintenance on advanced robotics and production equipment, including automated bagging machines and material handling systems. 

You will be responsible for diagnosing faults, performing low-level repairs, supporting equipment performance improvements, and ensuring all work is completed safely and efficiently in line with operational standards. This is a hands-on role suited to someone with strong problem-solving skills, a keen interest in automation technology, and the ability to work effectively within a fast-paced engineering environment on a rotating day and night shift pattern.

Your duties will include:

  • Carry out maintenance on production equipment in an accurate, timely and safe manner - in accordance with standard operating procedures and safe system of works.
  • Respond to and diagnose equipment breakdowns relevant to level of training received, experience and competence. Resolving issues and action repairs were possible.
  • Update engineering records, including all work carried out, support the identification of root cause of failures, and confirmation of spares and consumables used.
  • Ensure accurate and timely records are input into the CMMS system to support engineering KPI’S.
  • Perform daily housekeeping and cleaning duties of equipment
  • Assist your engineering team in analysing engineering failures and in finding solutions to improve MHE performance.
  • Capable of working at height and using a variety of access equipment.
  • Ensuring all Health & safety, food hygiene & safety standards/procedures are adhered to

Apprenticeships include time away from working for specialist training. You’ll study to gain professional knowledge and skills.

  • The first year will be based at the IPS Training Centre, focusing on core engineering fundamentals and skills development to prepare apprentices for the workplace.
  • Years 2–4 will combine workplace learning with structured training, including day release and ongoing support from IPS trainers.

You will be expected to work 40 hours a week Monday - Friday on a days only pattern
