Our Laboratories Functional Service Partnership (FSP) team plays a direct role in advancing drug development by creating sustained groups of talent within our customers’ organizations to provide long-term support. Key responsibilities:

We are looking for a self-motivated candidate to join the Biologics Sample Management team. This person will be an active member of the team in a state-of-the-art core facility for high throughput preparation, storage and distribution of biologic samples, such as DNA, RNA and proteins, cell lines and other therapeutic modalities to support research and drug discovery efforts at our client site. The successful candidate will be expected to participate actively in sample management, acquisition, registration, preparation, distribution workflows and have strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills in order to work effectively with teammates and stakeholders.

  • Adapting scientific knowledge to resolve problems encountered in achieving defined goals with support from line manager or other team members as required to meet internal and project deadlines.
  • Review and follow laboratory procedures and policies for operating functions of the laboratory.
  • Demonstrating full command of all techniques and tools required for assigned responsibilities within the given project.
  • Ensuring the conduction of safe working practices.
  • Sample management activities such as:
  • Acquisition of new samples
  • Sample registration & data entry
  • Aliquoting
  • Aseptic handling techniques
  • QC
  • Standard molecular biology techniques such as:
  • Plasmid DNA preparation, sequencing, sequence analysis
  • Standard nucleic acid analytical/QC methods
  • Analytical techniques
  • Automated liquid handling
  • Optional but not required: familiarity with establishing laboratory automation platforms and writing methods
  • Optional, but not required: experience with Titian Mosaic or other Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) systems
  • Take responsibility to maintain laboratory records, reports and files.
  • The ability to independently manage and resolve technical problems.
  • Recommend and assist in the implementation of goals and objectives, implement approved policies and procedures.
  • To provide support to colleagues where necessary with regard to equipment or technical requirements for projects being carried out.
  • Other duties as assigned may be required to ensure the smooth running of the laboratories.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in lab sciences such as Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biology, or similar
  • Assoc Scientist: Previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 0-2 years’)
  • Scientist: Previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 2-4 years’)
  • OR Masters

In some cases, an equivalency, consisting of a combination of appropriate education, training and/or directly related experience, will be considered sufficient for an individual to meet the requirements of the role.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Prior experience with protein sample management & QC techniques, standard molecular biology techniques such as plasmid DNA preparation, sequencing, sequence analysis and standard nucleic acid analytical/QC methods is desired.
  • Prior experience working with oligonucleotide and cell line samples is also a plus. Experience with automated liquid handling, analytical techniques and/or experience with Titian Mosaic or other Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) are also desired.
  • Successful candidates must have the following attributes: team player, agile and open to change, be highly organized, self-motivated, with strong analytical and communication skills.
  • Must have a demonstrated track record of ability and initiative to work independently in a collaborative team-oriented setting in line with the vision/mission of the group.

Compensation and Benefits

The hourly pay range estimated for this position based in California is $30.00–$34.00.
