About the team 
Working on BlackRock’s industry-leading investment operating system, Aladdin. Aladdin is used both internally and by many of the world’s top financial institutions. Aladdin combines sophisticated risk analytics with comprehensive portfolio management, trading, and operations tools on a single platform to power informed decision-making and build the connective tissue for thousands of users investing worldwide. 

 

Our development teams sit within Aladdin Engineering, where we collaboratively build the next generation of technology that changes how information, people, and technology intersect for global investment firms. We create and package tools that manage trillions in assets and support millions of financial instruments. We perform risk calculations and process millions of transactions for thousands of users every day, worldwide!

What you’ll do 

  • Deliver robust, high-performance UIs: Develop and deploy high-performance, highly available, and resilient user interface components 

  • Own frontend solutions endtoend, from initial design through production delivery and longterm evolution. 

  • Use AI-assisted development tools to accelerate design, coding, and testing workflows. 

  • Collaborate across teams: Work closely with product management, UX/UI design, and business stakeholders to define the product roadmap and user experience. Partner with back-end, data, and cloud engineering teams to ensure cohesive end-to-end solutions that align with our overall technical strategy. 

  • Design innovative solutions: Architect and develop creative solutions to complex front-end challenges. Identify issues and roadblocks early, and devise scalable strategies to overcome them while maintaining a user-centric approach. 

  • Champion quality and best practices: Ensure code quality and interface reliability by adhering to coding standards, implementing comprehensive testing (unit, integration, end-to-end), and performing rigorous code reviews. Proactively seek opportunities to improve application performance, accessibility, and maintainability. 

  • Technical leadership and mentorship: Be a technical authority with vision, contributing to the team’s strategic direction in front-end technology choices and architecture. Act as a partner in brainstorming solutions to improve team productivity and engineering efficiency, while guiding and mentoring junior developers to help them grow. 

Qualifications 

  • 7+ years of experience building modern front-end applications using framework React, with strong proficiency in JavaScript (ES6+), TypeScript, HTML5, CSS3, including experience with CSS preprocessors (e.g. SASS/LESS) and front-end build tools or bundlers (Webpack, Vite, etc.). 

  • Proven experience owning, evolving, and supporting significant frontend components or systems in production environments. 

  • Strong understanding of web performance optimization and accessibility standards (WCAG), with experience building fast, responsive, and inclusive user interfaces across browsers and devices 

  • Hands-on experience with modern testing frameworks and methodologies (e.g. Jest, Mocha, Jasmine, Cypress) and a demonstrated commitment to test-driven development and automation for high-quality software. 

  • Solid fundamental programming skills, including a good grasp of algorithms, data structures, and design patterns as applied in a front-end context. 

  • Experience with version control (Git) and CI/CD pipelines (e.g. Azure DevOps, Jenkins or similar) for streamlined development and deployment processes. 

  • Familiarity with microservices and microfrontend architectures and integrating front-end applications with RESTful APIs (and/or GraphQL) in a complex distributed system. 

  • Experience with cloud platforms like Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services (AWS), as well as containerisation tools such as Docker and orchestration platforms like Kubernetes. 

  • Interest in shaping patterns for AI generated code quality, maintainability, and lifecycle safety. 

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams and excellent communication and presentation skills. Proven experience in mentoring junior engineers and a track record of influencing technical decisions. 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.

Our hybrid work model
