Position Summary

Supports the intake, validation, and administrative processing of freight claims up to $1,000. Manages claim-related communications, ensures accurate documentation, and prepares claims for investigation in accordance with company policies and industry guidelines.

Major Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Manages the Claims inbox, including triaging customer in queries, verifying required documentation, and guiding customers through the claim submission process.
  • Reviewing incoming damage notifications and verifies if a claim has been filed.
  • Processes daily work queues and ensures all claim documentation is accurately logged and routed for investigation.
  • Conducts basic investigations for claims within authority limits by analyzing shipment records, delivery documentation, photos, and bill of lading notations to determine liability.
  • Applies claim decision guidelines, including legal liability limits and customer contract exceptions, to recommend claim settlements.
  • Documents claim determinations, generates customer correspondence, and ensure accurate claim settlement processing.
  • Coordinates with internal departments and external vendors for inspections or follow-up documentation on assigned claims.
  • Provides administrative support to the Freight Claims team, including data entry, inbox monitoring, inspections, and claim payment check balancing.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Prior experience in claims processing, customer service, or administrative support.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with transportation systems (AS400 or similar TMS platforms) is a plus.

               

Pay Rate: $19.86 - $22.85 per hour, based on experience
