ABOUT THE ROLE:

The Fraud Investigator leads complex investigations and supports strategic fraud prevention efforts. This role involves mentoring Fraud Analysts, collaborating with law enforcement, and presenting findings to leadership. The Fraud Investigator is an expert in fraud schemes and regulatory frameworks and contributes to enterprise-wide fraud strategy.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

The responsibilities for this role are below; you may support projects of varying complexity based on skill and organizational priorities.

  • Complex Investigations: Lead and manage high-risk fraud investigations.
  • Mentorship: Provide guidance and support to Fraud Analysts.
  • Strategic Prevention: Contribute to fraud prevention strategies and initiatives.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure investigations meet regulatory standards.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Present findings to executive leadership and external partners.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with legal, compliance, and risk teams.
  • Reporting: Develop comprehensive investigative reports and summaries.
  • Training: Support development of training materials and programs.
  • Technology Utilization: Leverage fraud detection tools and systems.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify process enhancements for investigative practices.
  • Bank Security Act Requirements: Adhere to Bank Secrecy Act (BSA)/Anti-Money Laundering (AML) regulations, Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC) sanctions, and the bank’s Customer Identification Program (CIP). Maintain required reporting and recordkeeping, follow all related policies and procedures, and participate in ongoing compliance training.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Criminal Justice, Finance, or related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in fraud investigation, compliance, or law enforcement.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

Qualified candidates will possess an appropriate degree of proficiency (typically from relevant years of work or practical experience), in:

  • Leadership: Ability to lead investigations and mentor team members.
  • Fraud Expertise: Deep knowledge of fraud schemes and typologies.
  • Presentation Skills: Skilled in presenting findings to senior stakeholders.
  • Regulatory Acumen: Strong understanding of fraud-related regulations.
  • Analytical Tools: Experience with fraud detection and analysis platforms.

The base salary for this position is reflective of the range of salary levels for all roles within this pay grade across the U.S. Individual salaries within this range will vary based on factors such as role, relevant skillset, relevant experience, education and geographic location. In addition to the base salary, this role is eligible to participate in an incentive compensation plan, with any such payment based upon company, line of business and/or individual performance.
