Franchise Staff Accountant

Job Description Summary

The Franchise Staff Accountant is responsible for performing daily accounting activities for the Franchise Division, including multi-entity billing, performing general ledger journal entries. This will be an individual contributor position and will support the Franchise Accounting Manager and Director in achieving departmental objectives and ensuring accurate, timely billing and reporting.

Job Description

Principal duties and responsibilities include

  • Prepare monthly billing invoices for assigned entities in accordance with franchise contracts, ensuring information provided to franchisees is timely and accurate.

  • Document and record contract amendments, additions, and termination of contracts to ensure accurate billing.

  • Review new franchise agreements and provide guidance on the appropriate accounting treatment for billing purposes.

  • Execute and adhere to internal controls and accounting procedures.

  • Prepare and post journal entries throughout the month as well as during month-end close for any corrections or adjustments to billing invoices.

  • Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and general accounting guidance on sample selections as requested.

  • Partner with our franchisees to investigate and resolve material variances.

  • Collaborate with Accounts Receivable to ensure timely billing and accurate Aging reports.

  • Supports the Franchise Accounting Manager or Director with ad hoc requests and special projects.

  • Provide input to process design and drive continuous process improvement with a focus on standardization, efficiency and quality.

Qualifications and Skills

A candidate for this position must possess the following applicable knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to demonstrate and provide applicable examples to support his/her competencies.

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business, or equivalent work experience.

  • 2+ years of high-volume multi-entity billing (Franchise agreement related experience preferred).

  • 2+ years of general accounting experience.

 

Preferred:

  • Proficient fluency in Spanish (written/spoken).

  • Prior experience and comfort training or mentoring staff on billing related activities.

  • Yardi experience.

 

Additional Skills:

  • Advanced proficiency of Microsoft Excel including the ability to effectively organize, manipulate, and analyze large amounts of data.

  • Strong PC proficiency and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

  • Demonstrate ability to leverage technology to improve processes and efficiencies.

  • Ability to proactively communicate and collaborate with Franchisee’s, Operations teams, and other external stakeholders.

Additional Job Information/Anticipated

Pay Range

$26 - $28 / hour. Base pay offer may vary depending on various factors, including but not limited to job related knowledge, skills and job specific/overall experience.
