Your Recipe for Impact — What You’ll Do

As a Franchise Business Specialist, you’ll help strengthen and protect the Whataburger brand by supporting franchise partners through clear processes, thoughtful communication, and consistent governance. You’ll Make a Difference by improving franchise tools, standards, and reporting that drive compliance and operational excellence. By serving as a reliable partner and advocate for the franchise community, you’ll Serve with Heart, ensuring questions and concerns are addressed with care and responsiveness. You’ll Win as One by collaborating across Legal, Operations, and Support teams to align priorities and solve challenges. And by continuously improving franchise processes, insights, and communication, you’ll Move Forward Boldly, helping the franchise system grow stronger and more efficient.

Day-to-Day Ingredients — Responsibilities

As a Franchise Business Specialist, you will:

  • Support execution of the Franchise Governance Operating Model
  • Manage franchise tools, templates, standards, and resources
  • Track and support franchise agreement compliance requirements
  • Serve as a liaison between Whataburger and the franchise community
  • Respond to and resolve franchisee inquiries and ad hoc requests
  • Analyze franchise governance trends and prepare management reports
  • Maintain accurate documentation, logs, and tracking tools
  • Communicate compliance expectations clearly and consistently
  • Coordinate and support franchise meetings and governance forums
  • Assist with continuous improvement of franchise processes and workflows

What You Bring to the Table — Required Experience

As a Franchise Business Specialist, you must have: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant work experience
  • Experience supporting projects, programs, or cross‑functional initiatives
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills
  • Ability to analyze information and summarize key insights
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and follow‑through
  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams and stakeholders
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)

Extra Toppings — Desired Experience

As a Franchise Business Specialist, we prefer you to have: 

  • Experience in franchise, restaurant, or multi‑unit operations
  • Familiarity with governance, compliance, or contract‑based environments
  • Experience creating reports, dashboards, or executive summaries
  • Exposure to process improvement or change management
  • Experience supporting senior leaders or cross‑department initiatives

Where & How You’ll Work

This role is based at the San Antonio Home Office, working on‑site Monday through Thursday with remote flexibility on Fridays. In this role, you’ll have strong collaboration with leadership, across cross-functional teams, and with external partners to align capabilities with restaurant realities. The work environment is fast‑paced and requires sound judgment, strategic thinking, and strong collaboration skills. Full‑time availability is required, with occasional extended hours based on business needs, along with occasional travel to properties, project sites, and external meetings. Candidates must reside within commuting distance of the San Antonio Home Office.
