What we do at Weir
We are a global leader in mining technology for a sustainable future. We help our customers extract the resources the world needs more efficiently and more sustainably. Our planet’s future depends on the transition to renewable energy, and that transition can only happen with the metals and minerals our customers deliver. So, we work side by side with mines across the globe to move less rock, use less energy, use water wisely, and create less waste. Together, we drive the shift to smart, efficient, and more sustainable mining.
Make your impact
You’ll play a key role in solving real-world challenges. You’ll apply your skills to deliver results that matter whether that’s through engineering, planning or customer support. You’ll work with purpose, learn every day and help shape a more sustainable future.
What you’ll do
⦿ Core Production: Prepare sand cores for metal casting by molding and shaping sand mixtures using specific patterns and molds. Combine sand with binding agents to achieve the desired consistency and durability. Daily tasks include following production schedules and ensuring cores meet specifications. Success means producing cores that consistently meet quality standards with minimal scrap or rework.
⦿ Machinery Operation: Operate industrial mixers and core making machines, adjusting settings and performing routine maintenance such as cleaning and calibration to ensure equipment functionality. The role involves hands-on machine operation and upkeep to maintain production flow.
⦿ Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough inspections of sand cores using measuring tools and blueprints to identify defects and ensure compliance with design and quality standards. Success is measured by adherence to specifications and low defect rates.
⦿ Team Collaboration: Participate in morning meetings with the team leader to review production requirements, discuss scrap and rework rates, and communicate shift information. Work closely with a partner and the wider team to meet production goals.
⦿ Safety First: Demonstrate 100% commitment to our zero harm behaviors in support of our drive towards developing a world-class safety culture.
