What this role is all about:

We are looking for a Food Technologist I in La Crosse, WI.

Schedule: Monday - Friday, regular business hours

The Food Technologist I engages in the activities of Product Innovation to include product development, sample program, technical services and nutritional documents.

Job Duties:

  • Serve as Project Leader on requests for product development, ingredient approvals, and technical services (projects), working as a team with Sales Lead, Procurement, and/or Quality to create a technical solution toward a sales opportunity.
  • Formulate new product developments accurately according to project requirements, including formula developments which successfully meet food certifications and claims.
  • Communicate new product development technical needs during development process with other departments including but not limited to: Quality, Procurement, Operations and Sales in an attempt to ensure successful scale up and hand-offs between team members.
  • Utilize Product Innovation Formulation Software (TechWizard) for new product development formulations. Export formulations for integration into ConXus software.
  • Utilize ConXus project management system in all facets related to role as project leader in Innovation.
  • Basic understanding and use of Navision (or appropriate active ERP system) to obtain ingredients and formula related information.
  • Possess basic knowledge and understanding of processing techniques related to the applications specific to the role, assignment, or project.
  • Obtain information and/or samples needed to initiate project.
  • Enter sample requests into sample program software for shipment to customers.
  • Order ingredients from approved vendors.
  • Digital documentation: formulate and document critical criteria and changes using TechWizard.

Qualifications:

Education Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science or Biological Science required.
  • Equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.

Experience Required:

  • Minimum one (1) year of Food Science/Research and Development experience preferred.
