Shift: 2nd shift

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 3:00 pm – 11:30 pm (flex as needed). Must be willing to work overtime & weekends as needed.

Pay Rate: $28.70/hour plus a shift premium. This position is paid weekly.

SUMMARY: The FSQA Lead Technician supports the FSQA Supervisor in overseeing daily food safety and quality activities on the production floor. This role leads FSQA Technicians, ensures adherence to food safety standards, inspects products and sanitation practices, and maintains accurate records in compliance with regulatory and company policies. The position involves working with beef, poultry, pork, and potential allergens.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement daily FSQA plans and assign detailed work tasks to Technicians.
  • Monitor FSQA team and production activity during the shift; follow up to ensure objectives are met.
  • Lead pre-shift meetings to review assignments, production schedules, and quality focus areas.
  • Train and develop FSQA Technicians to meet performance standards.
  • Review daily FSQA records for completeness and accuracy.
  • Investigate and isolate non-conforming products; initiate hold procedures and determine root cause.
  • Report food safety and quality concerns to FSQA management promptly.
  • Inspect products and packaging to ensure compliance with specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform and document inspections of plant systems and finished products.
  • Ensure work complies with USDA regulations, company policies, and established procedures.

REQUIREMENTS: 

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • College coursework or a degree in Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Food Science, or related field preferred.

Experience:

  • 2 plus years in related food manufacturing and/or Food Safety & Quality Assurance roles.

Computer Skills:

  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Proficient in data entry, email communication, and file management.

Communication Skills:

  • Strong written and verbal communication across all levels.

Special Skills:

  • Ability to complete paperwork accurately.
  • Leadership and motivational skills.
  • Strong organizational, math, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret product specifications.
  • Must be dependable, adaptable, and able to work under pressure.

Physical Requirements:

  • Lift up to 70 lbs.
  • Stand up to 12 hours per day on hard surfaces.
  • Work in cold/hot environments (45–75°F), wet conditions.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, squatting, gripping, pushing, pulling.
  • Reach high and low frequently; climb ladders/stairs.
  • Must be able to work overtime and weekends as needed.
  • Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) certification required (or ability to obtain).
