The Food Runner Part Time plays a critical role in supporting seamless service by managing the flow of food from the kitchen to the dining room. This position ensures dishes are delivered accurately, promptly, and professionally while maintaining service pace and supporting the culinary and front-of-house teams.
Manage food at the pass, ensuring accuracy, quality, temperature, and presentation before delivery.
Deliver food promptly to tables using proper position numbers and approved service spiels.
Describe menu items, preparation methods, and daily features clearly and confidently to guests.
Maintain awareness of table status, upcoming courses, and pacing to ensure smooth service flow.
Communicate continuously with Captains, Back Servers, and kitchen teams regarding guest needs, allergies, and dietary restrictions.
Assist the Chef and kitchen team with food expediting to maintain proper timing and rhythm of service.
Perform tableside service as required.
Keep the expeditor station stocked with plates, wipes, doilies, and other service tools throughout service.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized dining room, pass, and service stations at all times.
Participate in pre-shift meetings and remain up to date on menu items, daily features, and service expectations.
Comply fully with all federal, state, county, and local health, safety, and labor regulations.
Assist with service setup and breakdown duties, general cleaning, and special guest requests as needed.
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Minimum of 2–3 years of fine-dining or comparable service experience preferred.
Knowledge of food and wine is a plus.
Strong verbal communication skills for guest interaction and team coordination.
Ability to describe menu items clearly and apply suggestive selling techniques.
Basic math and computational skills for order and check accuracy.
Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
Professional demeanor, attention to detail, and strong teamwork skills.
