POSITION PURPOSE

  • Food Program Coordinator opportunity at The Farm at Trinity Health. Seeking individuals with experience in community health, sustainable food systems, or logistics to help advance our mission and support our community.

  • The Food Program Coordinator plays a key role in growing our food distribution and food insecurity programs, including our Collaborative Farm Share (CSA). This role ensures food is responsibly sourced, safely stored, and efficiently distributed, while building strong relationships with local farmers, customers, and community partners.

  • The Farm at Trinity Health Michigan is a nationally recognized Food is Medicine program that grows fresh, locally sourced produce year‑round to improve nutrition security and reduce health inequities across the community. Established in 2010, it partners with local farmers, provides education and hands‑on programs, and connects patients and families to healthy food through initiatives like the Farm Share and food assistance programs.

MINIUMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education:  High school diploma. Preferred: Bachelor’s degree with preference given to backgrounds in logistics, sustainable food systems, or community health. Commensurate experience with food purchasing, customer service, and retail operations acceptable.

  • Experience:  Minimum 2 years of experience with large-scale food purchasing, CSA coordinator, farming or running programs.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Program Leadership: Oversees and grows the Farm Share food security programs to expand food access, increase revenue for local farms, and build a diverse, engaged community of members.

  • Community Engagement: Develops and implements community partnerships and marketing strategies to increase Farm Share membership, with a focus on underserved communities.

  • Farmer / Grower Relations: Manages partnerships with local farmers by leading collaborative crop planning, maintaining weekly communication on availability and purchasing, and supporting farmers as they grow their businesses.

  • Financial Oversight: Oversees financial processes for both farmer payments and member payments, ensuring timely communication, accurate budgeting, and reliable enrollment tracking.

  • Customer Experience: Provides excellent customer service and fosters a welcoming environment where members, customers, and patients feel supported.

  • Education Support: Creates strong educational resources and experiences for Farm Share members and community participants in collaboration with the Education Coordinator.

  • Member Communication: Communicates clearly with members through weekly newsletters and in-person interactions.

  • Food Safety Management: Ensures all food safety practices are consistently followed in alignment with the Farm’s food safety plan.

  • Clinical Collaboration: Coordinates with the farm-based Community Health Worker to support at‑risk populations and reduce food insecurity.

  • Relationship Building: Maintains positive working relationships and approaches conflict constructively by identifying issues, offering solutions, and participating in resolutions.

  • Patient Coordination: Receives patient referrals through the electronic medical record and manages enrollment, scheduling, and ongoing reporting.

  • Program Evaluation: Coordinates the annual program evaluation, including survey design, data collection, analysis, and preparation of public-facing evaluation materials.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Strong knowledge of food purchasing, storage and distribution 

  • Ability to create and manage a budget and multiple types of payment modalities. 

  • Experience in managing complex systems and strong knowledge of online sales platforms 

  • Knowledge of local food, seasonal cooking, and nutrition
