Job Title: Florida Green Schools Intern
Department: Florida Chapter
Location: Tampa, FL
Reports to: Organizing Manager
Duration: 11-20 hours per week for 4 months; April 14 - August 14
Context: At the Sierra Club, we believe in the power of interdependence. Together, we remain committed to the fight for a healthy climate built on a foundation of environmental, demographic, and gender justice – a future where all people benefit from a healthy, thriving planet and a direct connection to nature. By recognizing that our destinies are tied, we know that all things are fundamentally connected, and the overlap between ecology, race, gender, and representative government can advance our collective humanity. Sierra Club has close to 800 staff across the country and a network of 64 local chapters that are led and fueled by thousands of volunteers. In this internship, you will be working mostly with our volunteers.
Scope: The Sierra Club Florida Chapter is made up of volunteer leaders and civic activists representing over 32,000 members. We also have over 10 staff members who help us pursue specific goals. Our mission is to enjoy, explore, and protect the natural and threatened places in Florida, to teach others to understand and respect the fragile environment in which we live, and to support equal environmental justice for all. The intern will work with the Florida Chapter green-team-lead as well as staff and learn about stakeholder outreach and bringing younger environmentalists onto our team.
