The Research Operations and Integration (ROI) Task Order is looking for an experiment project manager who will provide technical leadership and project management expertise for human research experiments conducted on the International Space Station (ISS).   The successful candidate will lead one or more project teams in the definition, development, and implementation of these flight experiments on the ISS.  The position will interface with Principal Investigators (PIs), the NASA ROI Element Management Team, internal ROI functional teams, and other HHPC personnel to address a wide spectrum of project-related implementation details and issues that arise during experiment development.  This position will also serve as a KBR Administrative Manager and provide supervision and oversight for the KBR employees on the ROI team.

Job Responsibilities: 

Responsible for compliance with Safety, Health and Environmental plan; must be committed to a high standard of safety and be willing and able to comply with all safety laws and all of the Company's safety policies and rules and must be willing to report safety violations and potential safety violations to appropriate supervisory or management personnel.

Responsible for compliance with the Quality Assurance Plan, policies and procedures

Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance level as determined by the Company

Responsible for completing all assigned training

Provides technical leadership for ROI experiment teams in support of Human Research Program research activities.

Manages the resolution of technical project issues, including documenting results and, where necessary, making recommendations to management and customers.

Manages one or more work packages under the ROI Experiment Science Subtask, including coordinating and controlling individual experiment implementation costs, schedule, technical issues, and risks. 

Ensures resources are assigned to meet experiment deliverables (crew training, baseline data collections, science verification tests, Payload Training Dry Runs, Training Readiness Reviews, support to software integration, crew procedure development, console support, etc.).

Plans project resources that include coordination of required personnel or skill needs of the experiment with various resource managers to implement all aspects of experiment implementation.

Serves as a senior liaison between ROI and the Principal Investigator.    

Ensures the experiment supply/resupply logistics plans and hardware needs are developed and communicated to meet on-orbit experiment implementation strategy across all increments and logistics flights.

Ensures experiment requirements are correctly captured and baselined.

Ensures real-time experiment support plans meet ROI objectives.  May support real-time operations on console during crew-tended experiment activities, which require working non-standard hours.  

Serves as administrative manager for KBR ROI team members.  Responsible for employee timesheet review, annual performance appraisal review, interface between employees and management, ensures fulfillment and compliance of KBR policies, procedures, and business strategies.

Education/Experience

Required:

- A bachelor's degree (BS) in science or related field and 10 years’ experience

Desired:

- Advanced Degree

- NASA/HHPC experience

Skills/Training:

Required:

- Exceptional communication (both written and oral) and interpersonal skills

- Strong evidence of previous leadership and problem-solving skills

- Ability to perform at a high level and perform multiple tasks simultaneously

- Must be reliable, adaptable, and capable of working in a team environment

Desired:

- Project Management Training

- Proficiency in the following areas: resource estimating, scope definition and Statement of Work, Basis of Estimate development, HHPC Pricing tool

- Familiarity with ROI experiment development process

- Formal leadership training
