Fleet Maintenance Technician

Job Summary

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing medium and heavy-duty transportation equipment including trucks, trailers, and related mechanical systems. This role involves performing scheduled preventative maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical issues, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards. The technician works under direct supervision and supports fleet operations by ensuring equipment reliability and safety.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

· Perform routine and scheduled preventative maintenance on medium and heavy-duty vehicles and equipment.

· Perform roadside repairs and reactive maintenance as needed.

· Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.

· Utilize diagnostic tools and software to identify issues and perform corrective actions.

· Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.

· Practice safety awareness in all tasks, including lock-out/tag-out procedures and adherence to OSHA standards.

· Collaborate with fleet operations and other departments to ensure equipment readiness and minimize downtime.

· Organize parts, tools, and materials in designated areas for efficient workflow.

· Lift, move, push, pull, and carry materials and components weighing up to 50 lbs unassisted.

· Display a positive, team-oriented attitude and support management objectives.

· Saturday shifts will be worked to support the operation. Position requires a 40 hour work week with the opportunity for overtime when it is deemed necessary to support the operation.

Qualifications

· High School diploma or GED required.

· 1–2 years of experience in maintenance and repair of medium/heavy-duty transportation equipment preferred.

· Valid state driver’s license required; CDL is a plus.

· Knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulations as they pertain to maintenance and operation of transportation equipment.

· Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to read and interpret vehicle schematics and service manuals.

· Basic knowledge and use of computer systems and familiarity with Microsoft systems.
