About the Department & Role

The Investment Execution function supports all public market asset classes, as the essential link between fund management decisions and realising market positions. The function advises fund managers on all FX, Fixed Income, Equity and Derivative Instruments and general market conditions to deliver the best outcome for funds and clients.

Investment Execution contributes to the Aberdeen vision of building a world class investment firm by providing a best-in-class enabling function, being perceived both internally and externally, as a value add, alpha generating component of the investment process through efficient and optimal  execution. The  dealing  desk  is  centralised  and  adopts  a  24hr  follow  the  sun  model with dealers located across all major regions.

As a Fixed Income Dealer within our centralized global dealing desk, you will play a pivotal role in executing trades across the Fixed Income markets in EMEA. You will act as a strategic partner to fund managers, providing market insights, execution strategies, and ensuring best execution across all trades. This role is integral to delivering alpha through efficient execution and maintaining our reputation as an integral of the investment process. This is a fixed term contract through to end of September 2026.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute Fixed income trades across Investment Grade, High yield, Government and Futures, ensuring optimal execution
  • Provide real-time market colour and strategic execution advice to investment teams, leveraging deep understanding of market dynamics.
  • Execute trades in a timely, efficient, and skilful manner demonstrating best outcomes for client throughout the process.
  • Ensure accurate records on all dealing and related aspects of the job for internal, as well as regulatory, requirements.
  • Target zero error rate and always ensure adherence to FCA/Company policies and procedures.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships within Investment Execution, the
    Investment teams, and with our external counterparties.
  • Monitor trading volumes and performance with counterparties and provide qualitative feedback at regular intervals for both formal and informal broker reviews.
  • Understand and operate in line with relevant regulatory frameworks and Company procedures.
  • Always Work within the compliance and risk framework, reporting risks, errors,
    events, and issues to Global Head of Investment Execution, following through until resolution or mitigation.

About the Candidate

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • Have a good knowledge of Aberdeen trading processes.
  • Have thorough knowledge of Aberdeen systems and platforms, including Charles
    River, FXALL, Bloomberg, MarketAxess, Tradeweb, Neptune.
  • Proven experience in Fixed Income dealing within a buy-side or sell side institution.
  • Strong understanding of market microstructure, liquidity dynamics and execution venues.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Reliable team player with experience working both independently and in a global
    team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Sound attention to detail, judgment, and decision-making ability.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Strong interest in keeping abreast of market and industry events.
