Job Summary: This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies. Applications will not be accepted through this flyer. Major Duties:

  • You will perform engine company inspections, and building pre-plans, looking for infractions and the locations of local alarm and sprinkler systems, power, water, and gas shutoffs, noting all hazardous storage or conditions inside and outside.
  • You will carry out evacuation drills, reset sprinkler and local alarm systems.
  • You will perform station, grounds, apparatus, and equipment maintenance.
  • You will respond to structure fires, serving as a hydrant man, hose-man, makes forcible entry, ventilates structures, makes rescue, and performs salvage and overhaul operations, and other duties as required.
  • You will participate in public education activities.
  • You will respond to downed aircraft or aircraft emergencies, operates hand lines, turrets to control and protect aircrews and rescue men entering the aircraft.
  • You will respond to medical emergencies and provide for the rescue and on scene stabilization for victims of fire, sudden illness, accidental injuries, childbirth and other events requiring medical personnel.

Qualifications: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Inspecting facilities and structures for fire hazards and fire protection deficiencies, interpreting code regulations and directives, conducting troubleshooting as required for facilities, AND providing training on fire safety practices and procedures.
