Key Responsibilities
Installation & Commissioning

  • Install, test, commission, and hand over mechanical fire protection systems, primarily deluge systems, in line with project specifications, drawings, and relevant standards.
  • Carry out functional testing, system flushing, pressure testing, and flow testing.
  • Diagnose and resolve installation or commissioning issues on-site.
  • Support pre-commissioning inspections and final client acceptance tests.

Critical Environment Working

  • Work within live and high-risk environments such as data centres, power generation facilities, industrial plants, energy sites, or other mission-critical infrastructure.
  • Follow strict permit-to-work, lockout/tagout, and site-specific safety procedures.
  • Ensure minimal disruption to live systems and operations.

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Comply with all company and site H&S policies, method statements, and risk assessments.
  • Produce and review RAMS, commissioning plans, test records, and completion documentation.
  • Ensure installations meet relevant standards, regulations, and client requirements.

Collaboration & Reporting

  • Liaise with project managers, site supervisors, subcontractors, and clients.
  • Provide clear progress updates and technical input to support project delivery.
  • Assist with snagging, system optimisation, and post-handover support where required.

Travel & Working Away

  • Drive to and between sites using a company vehicle or own vehicle (as applicable).
  • Work away from home on a regular basis, including overnight stays.
  • Be flexible with working hours to meet commissioning windows and outage periods.

Skills & Experience Required
Essential

  • Proven experience installing and commissioning deluge and mechanical fire protection systems.
  • Strong mechanical background (pipework, valves, pumps, actuated systems).
  • Experience working within critical or high-risk environments.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications.
  • Full UK driving license.
  • Strong commitment to health and safety.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of relevant fire protection standards (e.g. LPC, NFPA, FM, BS, EN).
  • Experience with fire pumps, control valves, and system interfaces.
  • CSCS card or equivalent.
  • Confined space, IPAF, PASMA, or other relevant site safety certifications.

Working Conditions

  • Primarily site-based across multiple locations.
  • Regular travel and working away from home.
  • Some out-of-hours, weekend, or overnight work may be required to support commissioning activities.
