Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive fire safety programs tailored to manufacturing operations.
  • Conduct regular fire risk assessments and safety audits; identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
  • Establish and maintain emergency response plans, including evacuation procedures, emergency communication, and coordination with local emergency services.
  • Oversee the installation, maintenance, and inspection of fire detection and suppression systems, including sprinklers, alarms, extinguishers, and emergency lighting.
  • Lead fire drills and emergency response training sessions for all employees; ensure readiness and compliance.
  • Collaborate with facility management and safety teams to integrate fire safety into overall EHS strategies.
  • Monitor compliance with federal, state, and local fire codes and regulations (e.g., NFPA standards, OSHA).
  • Investigate fire incidents, near misses, or emergency events; prepare reports and recommend preventive measures.
  • Manage fire safety equipment inventories and ensure availability of proper firefighting resources.
  • Serve as liaison with local fire departments, emergency responders, and regulatory agencies.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of fire safety technologies, trends, and best practices relevant to manufacturing.
  • Prepare and present safety reports and performance metrics to senior management.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Fire Science, Engineering, or related field preferred.  Manufacturing experience will be considered in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree.
  • Professional certification such as Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or equivalent is a plus.
  • 5-8 years of experience in fire safety and emergency response, preferably within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Able to assist the manager with trainings, reports, and other duties.
  • In-depth knowledge of fire safety codes, regulations, and standards (NFPA, OSHA, local fire codes).
  • Strong leadership and training skills; ability to conduct effective drills and safety training.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to respond promptly and effectively to emergency situations.
  • Proficient in safety management software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Working Conditions:

  • Industrial manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery, chemicals, and potentially hazardous conditions.
  • May require occasional after-hours or on-call emergency response availability.
