FIRE PROTECTION SPECIALIST

Salary Range: $47265 - $61449 Per Year

Job Summary: You will serve as a Fire Protection Inspector in the Fire and Emergency Services Department of NAVAL STATION ROTA.

Major Duties:

  • You will prepare correspondence and inspection reports, maintain records, perform research, interpret codes, implement policy, testify at legal proceedings and create forms and job aids.
  • You will interpret all applicable regulations, policies, fire and life safety codes.
  • You will monitor new and existing structures and properties for construction, occupancy, fire protection and exposures.
  • You will issue fire permits, conduct fire permit inspections, investigate and resolve potential violations of laws, ordinances, codes and regulations.
  • You will respond as assigned to the site of hazardous materials incidents and fires to inspect the scene to determine the area/point of origin, source of ignition, material/s spilled and/or ignited, act or activity that brought the ignition source.
  • You will present public fire protection and life safety education programs to motivate the general public and tenant commands.
  • You will develop fire and life safety inspection programs for fire suppression personnel.

Qualifications: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Interpreting fire prevention instructions, regulations and procedures to manage all phases of the department's fire prevention program; 2) Developing public fire and life safety training programs; and 3) Conducting inspections.
