Job Summary: This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This position is located with the Directorate of Emergency Services, Fort Campbell, KY.

Major Duties:

  • Manage the training program and the training facility, associated supplies, and training resources for the Installation Fire Department.
  • Maintain individual training evaluation and fire protection training records.
  • Develop and conduct structural drills.
  • Serve as Assistant Chief of Training and technical advisor for all training and safety related programs.
  • Instruct the Fire Department personnel in all phases of medical, fire protection and prevention techniques and practices.
  • Coordinate the credential process for all levels of department personnel.
  • Develop lesson plans, courses and training materials based upon the training needs of personnel.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: (1) Implementing fire protection training programs, such as firefighting, Emergency Medical Services, Hazardous materials, technical rescue, etc.; (2) developing training program budget, to include approving or confirming all training and travel expenditures; (3) evaluating fire prevention training and making recommendations for future training, guidelines and meeting safety standards. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). Selective Placement Factor: In addition to the specialized experience required to qualify for the GS-11 level you must also possess and maintain ALL the following Department of Defense (or reciprocal equivalent) certification, certified through DoD Fire and Emergency Services Certification System, International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC), or the Fire Service Professional Qualifications System (PRO-Board) in accordance with DoD 6055.06-M. Must possess and maintain DoD Firefighter Certifications: Fire Officer III Fire Instructor III Fire Inspector II HAZMAT Incident Commander HAZMAT Technician Fire Fighter II Airport Fire Fighter Emergency Medical Technician NOTE: You MUST attach a copy of ALL the required certificates to your application package.
