The Boeing Company is looking for a Fire Protection Engineer (Associate or Mid-Level) to join the Enterprise Fire Protection Engineering team in Berkeley, MO or Hazelwood, MO to support protecting people, property, product, and information across Boeing’s global locations.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with consensus codes, standards, internal policy procedures and underwriting data sheets to minimize the impact of potential losses, maintain compliance with requirements and protect people, property and the environment.

As a member of the Enterprise Fire Protection organization, you will have support from fire protection engineering, fire prevention, and emergency response experts across all business units, and exposure to a large variety of products and services. With a focus on engineering excellence, you will be accountable for the engineering specification, review, and approval of processes and infrastructure supporting commercial and defense products.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Performing design specifications and review in compliance with policies, codes, and standards

  • Establishing safe procedures for operations that may not be addressed by codes or standards

  • Performing field evaluations of existing conditions as it relates to fire protection

  • Negotiating with local building and fire agencies

  • Conducting fire system tests/evaluations and working with insurance partners to implement best loss prevention practices and minimize business interruption

  • Conducting fire inspections and systems tests

  • Developing and revising company standards, processes and procedures relating to fire protection

  • Investigating, evaluating, and tracking fire protection related losses (e.g., trend analysis and loss limitation recommendations) to minimize the risks and effects of potential losses

  • Performing fire protection and special hazard analyses including:

    • Plan review and fire department response pre-planning

    • Hydraulic calculations

    • Code research and interpretation

    • Flammable liquids analysis

    • Combustible dust analysis

    • Rack storage analysis

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Experience completing process oriented tasks accurately and in an organized manner

  • Experience with national fire codes and standards

  • Valid drivers license

  • Capable to travel 25% of the time

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 3 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience 

  • 3+ years of experience in code consulting, fire protection equipment design or project management

  • Experience with the Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Project

  • Experience with plan review of engineering designs, including egress, sprinklers, fire alarm, and other building systems for code compliance, performance and adequacy

  • Experience working in high-challenge fire environments which includes experience with hazards such as combustible dust, ignitable liquids, rack storage, and hazardous materials

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary pay range for Associate: $77,350 - $104,650

Summary pay range for Mid-Level: $95,200 - $128,800
