The incumbent of this position provides administrative assistance to the wildland fire park group units.
Major Duties:
Qualifications: In order to qualify, you must meet the eligibility and qualifications requirements as defined below by the closing date of the announcement. Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Selective Factor: This position requires the skill of a qualified typist. To qualify, you must certify that you have the ability to type at least 40 words per minute (based on a five-minute sample with 3 or fewer errors). This skill is a requirement for this position. For the GS-06 level: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 level in the Federal service or equivalent; Examples of specialized experience include: Preparing travel authorizations and vouchers and assisting with making travel arrangements; preparing correspondence, presentations and reports utilizing software packages such as Microsoft Word; coordinating and entering time and attendance for staff, following timekeeping procedures, utilizing automated payroll systems; tracking and filing documents and correspondence; and ordering and maintaining supplies and equipment for the office. For the GS-07 level: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service or equivalent; Examples of specialized experience include: Assisting in the planning and formulating of a budget including preparing budget submissions, annual operating plans, and allocating and transferring funds; preparing travel authorizations and vouchers and assist with making travel arrangements; preparing correspondence, presentations and reports utilizing software packages such as Microsoft Word; coordinating and entering time and attendance for staff following timekeeping procedures utilizing automated payroll systems; tracking and filing documents and correspondence; and ordering and maintaining supplies and equipment for the office. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
