What this job involves

Overall Role

Develops and implements fire safety and related programs for the property. Directs the day-to-day operation of fire safety functions. Trains building personnel as well as tenants regarding fire evacuation and emergency procedures.

Determines program requirements and the equipment, resources, roles and responsibilities needed to maximize life and property protection. Researches and maintains knowledge of fire and safety regulations applicable to the property. Counsels’ property and engineering management about changes and their impact. Staffs and monitors lobby fire command station. Trains and deploys security/fire safety personnel in a manner which maximizes the protection of life and property.

Serves as liaison with suppliers, building engineers, contractors and public safety officers regarding performance of alarm systems, ancillary equipment and compliance concerns. Periodically tests fire alarm system and all ancillary equipment as required by applicable regulation. Monitors and reports on elevator and escalator operations. Performs other duties as assigned. s. Maintains logs of such tests and reports all deficiencies to property manager. Revises and maintains all assignments of Fire Safety personnel and associated logs. Prepares and updates fire safety team charts. Establishes and maintains emergency procedures and logs in coordination with property and engineering management teams. Coordinates implementation of floor warden training with property and engineering management teams. Coordinates testing of fire alarm, standpipe and sprinkler systems with property management and building occupants

Oversee direct reports. Provides informal assistance such as technical guidance, and/or training to coworkers. Coordinates and assigns tasks to co-workers within a work unit and/or projects.

What this job involves

  • Develops and implements Fire & Life Safety programs, providing oversight, guidance, training and support for FM and Engineers.

  • Recruiting and training of fire wardens, using and training with the FLS Web,

  • Conduct inspections and tracking inspections including correction of deficiencies, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.

  • Oversight of AED program.

  • Reviewing and approving MOPs related to, or affecting fire systems.

  • Reviewing site emergency and evacuation plans, advising on procurement of new equipment or projects related to F&LS.

  • Overseeing incident reporting and corrective actions (e.g., REPAC Notices).

  • Promoting events, including fire prevention week, and interaction with client F&LS personnel.  

  • Maintain knowledge to support expectations with codes, standards, regulations, and best practices. 

Desired experience and technical skills

  • Subject matter expertise in health, safety, fire & life safety and environmental aspects of property and facilities management.

  • It is also highly desirable to have Auditor Qualifications, NEBOSH/IOSH or equivalent & an in-depth understanding of international safety standards is also a big plus.

  • Fire Safety Manager certification from a recognized government body or equivalent

  • Proficiency in root cause analysis, management system auditing and EHS-related research.

  • You must also show a flair for reports and presentations—providing smart insights and developing policies when needed.

  • Superior communication skills to earn the trust and respect of colleagues and clients—and ultimately, usher them toward a common goal of maintaining a risk-free workplace.

  • You must also have excellent negotiation skills and knowledge, experience and competencies in policies, codes of practice and operating procedures.

  • Furthermore, you must demonstrate an ability to work both independently and with a group.

  • A proven capacity to handle multicultural teams is also a big plus.
