Amentum is seeking a Fire Captain to join our team on Andros Island, Bahamas to support the US Navy Detachment - Atlantic Undersea Test and Evaluation Center (AUTEC). The Fire Captain will work with the Fire Chief to execute policies, follow guidance to achieve goals and objectives for the department. The Fire Captain will serve as the Entry Team Officer at all emergency incidents that may occur because of natural forces, major accidents, fire or explosions, oil and hazardous material spills, and/or accidents occurring in confined spaces. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Work with the Fire Chief to plan and develop policies and establish goals for Fire Fighters and Fire Department personnel.
Assume duties of Fire Chief when required, including Fire Department operations, records management, and reports preparation.
Ensure that all vehicles are inspected and operational checks are performed on a daily basis.
Ensure that all firefighting, hazmat, and rescue equipment is tested, repaired, inspected, and maintained.
Ensure the inspection, testing, and preventive maintenance of all hydrants, fire alarm boxes, sprinkler systems, fire extinguishers, as assigned.
Implements, monitors, and enforces safe working practices of all employees during routine assignments and emergency operations.
Ensures 100% accountability of all personnel under their authority at all times.
Work requires the exercise of discretion and independent judgment.
Customarily directs the work of two (2) or more employees. Has the authority to recommend hiring, firing, promotion, and change of status of employees.
Ensure compliance with Company and governmental guidelines and regulations pertaining to the responsibilities of this position.
Instructor for all phases of emergency response, such as firefighting, hazmat response, confined space rescue, etc.
Performs, delegates, and monitors assignments as needed.
Responds to all emergencies and performs assigned function or acts as Incident Commander in the absence of the Fire Chief.
Responds to non-emergent requests as necessary.
Seeks to ensure customer satisfaction in all endeavors.
Responsible for reporting potential real environmental concerns to the Environmental Service.
Minimum Requirements:
3 – 5 Years experience in fire protection/prevention – full time, part time, volunteer or technical training.
Must have received a High School Diploma or Equivalent.
Must have and maintain a Firefighter I and II certification, Fire Officer II, Instructor II
National Registry EMT or Paramedic license.
Must possess and maintain a valid Drivers License.
Must be able to obtain and maintain OSHA Materials Levels I, II, III and V certification.
Must be computer literate in common software applications and able to operate general office equipment.
Must maintain fitness-for-duty standards to perform the essential functions of the position, to include any HWAD drill, contingency and/or emergency requirement.
Applicant must be physically fit to withstand extreme heat, cold, and smoke.
Perform arduous climbing, lifting, raising, running, and crawling.
Applicant must be able to use simple formulas to compute engine pressures for providing adequate flow of water at the nozzle.
Must have a good working knowledge of the care, operation, and maintenance of all fire equipment.
Required to attend classes, courses, and self study instruction for compliance with DoD certification requirements.
