Financial Planning and Analysis Analyst I

Position Summary:

The Financial Planning and Analysis Analyst I plays a crucial role within the Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) team, focusing on creating and maintaining financial workflows to deliver real-time insights into financial and operational performance. This role is pivotal in advancing business objectives by translating complex data into actionable insights using various tools. The Financial Planning and Analysis Analyst I should be comfortable working with large datasets, should have a strong understanding of core finance and accounting concepts, and should most importantly bring a willingness to learn and grow with the business.

Essential functions of the job include but are not limited to:

  • Generate and maintain the data infrastructure that is the foundation of the business unit’s financial reporting.
  • Streamline reporting and analytical workflows; enhance the accessibility of financial data; and continuously improve reporting and financial tools.
  • Manage and analyze large volumes of data to provide accurate and timely financial insights.
  • Regularly validate and audit data to maintain high standards of data quality.
  • Generate monthly financial reporting and operational analytics using a suite of technology tools, primarily Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerBI, and Alteryx.
  • Support the Senior Finance Data Analyst and Senior Director of Finance with ad hoc financial analyses and projects.

Qualifications:

Minimum Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related business field
  • Minimum of 1 - 3 years of experience
  • Strong level of comfort with accounting rules and financial concepts
  • Advanced ability with Microsoft Excel including Power Query functionality

Other Required:

  • Flexibility and willingness to work on multiple assignments of varying tasks with personnel at all levels of the organization
  • Self-starting attitude with a strong desire to learn and grow rapidly
  • Willingness to extend yourself and assist other team members
  • Ethics and integrity when dealing with confidential and sensitive information
  • Comfortable occasionally working late into the evening to support team members in the US Eastern time zone
  • Must be able to read, write, speak fluently, and comprehend the English language

Preferred:

  • Life Sciences experience preferred
  • Clinical trial finance experience preferred
  • Familiarity with advanced data analytics preferred
