Financial Operations Specialist 1 – Department of Food Science and Technology

 

Reporting to the Cost Center Manager in CFAES Department of Food Science and Technology, the Financial Operations Specialist 1 supports a full range of financial-based transactions, including initiation of journal entries, payroll costing, accounting adjustments, internal and external billing, and fund transfers.  Responsible for review and approval, via the cost center manager role, of various Workday procurement and payroll transactions for the department. Approvals include P-Card expense reports, travel reimbursements, spend authorizations, purchase requisitions, and miscellaneous payments, ensuring all University and College Policies and procedures are followed. This position has the ability and responsibility to push back transactions to faculty and staff that do not meet guidelines using diplomacy and tact. In addition, this position provides primary procurement and fiscal support, including Workday procurement entry, supplier maintenance, invoice payments and follow-up, tracking blanket purchase order spend, and purchase order clean-up.  On a monthly basis, invoices both Internal and External Customers, assists with monthly Financial Reconciliation, and prepares monthly financial reports for faculty.  Serves as a P-Card Manager and ensures financial transaction supporting documentation is organized and maintained according to university record retention guidelines.  Assists with the Annual Asset Management Process and training of department faculty, staff, and students. Responsible for recognizing and solving routine issues within department processes without direct supervisory oversight.  Recommend and implement changes to business processes to allow for enhanced efficiency.  Serves as key fiscal point of contact for faculty, staff, and students and provides a high level of service to all customers.    Participates in special projects and work groups; other duties as assigned.


Minimum Education Required
Bachelor's Level Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required/Desired Qualifications
0 years of work experience in position with fiscal support duties; must be detail oriented, have strong customer service skills and collaborative style of work; must have general accounting knowledge and experience with the University Workday financial system; computer literacy with strong excel skills and database software applications

This is a fulltime, regular staff position with fulltime benefits.

The pay range for this profile is $22.93-$29.95/hourly. The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, unit’s available budget, and the candidate’s qualifications
