Position Overview
The Financial Data Analyst is responsible for extracting, analyzing, and interpreting financial and operational data to support budgeting, forecasting, cost tracking, and strategic decision-making. This role leverages strong SQL skills for data manipulation, works closely with cross-functional teams, and ensures financial data accuracy for reporting and process improvement.
Data Extraction & Analysis
· Develop and maintain complex SQL queries to extract, clean, and transform data from multiple systems.
· Conduct detailed analysis of financial datasets to identify trends, variances, and cost drivers.
· Experience with data visualization tools (Looker, Tableau, Power BI, Mode)
Cost Tracking & Financial Modeling
· Apply financial and accounting principles to analyze costs, margins, revenue, spend patterns, and budget performance.
· Develop cost allocation models, forecasting templates, and analytical frameworks to support cost optimization.
· 2–5 years of experience in financial analytics, FP&A, business intelligence, or data analysis.
· Support month-end close activities by providing data-driven insights and variance analysis.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
· Work closely with cross functional teams to understand business needs and align reporting structures.
· Collaborate to refine templates, standardize financial reports, and enhance cost tracking methodologies.
· Translate business requirements into technical specifications for data extraction and reporting enhancements.
· Present insights to stakeholders in a clear, concise, and data-driven manner.
Reporting & Visualization
· Create dashboards, financial reports, and KPI scorecards using BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, or similar) for management insights.
· Support leadership with ad-hoc analysis to inform strategic decisions.
· Maintain documentation for SQL logic, data models, and reporting processes.
Required Qualifications
· Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Data Analytics, Business, Economics, or related field.
· Strong proficiency in SQL (joins, subqueries, window functions, ETL logic, performance optimization).
· Solid understanding of finance and accounting principles (costing, accruals, general ledger, budgeting).
· Experience working with large datasets and relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server).
· Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas, financial modeling).
· Ability to work collaboratively across cross-functional teams.
