Job Title: Financial Crime Operations Manager.
Location: Bangalore
Business & Team: The Financial Crime Operations (FCO) team sits within the Financial Crime Services (FCS) team. FCS is accountable for the development, implementation and ongoing leadership of the Groups financial crime shared services. FCS leads the Groups approach to managing AML/CTF, and Sanctions risks and obligations through the provisioning of the following services:
- AML/CTF Operations
- Sanctions Operations
- Government Agency Requests
- Know Your Customer (KYC)
- KYC Refresh
- Customer Verification Services
Impact & contribution: The role of Manager will support the Leads of Financial Crime Operations and key stakeholders across the Group in a highly regulated and fast paced environment to effectively and efficiently manage its financial crime obligations in relation to the Group’s High-risk customers by: -
- Forecasting volumes vs FTE to ensure tolerance levels are not breached
- People management practises are consistently adhered too across the footprint
- Ensuring Standard Operating Procedures are being always followed
- Insights into reporting and quality is obtained and documented clearly
- Supporting execution of strategic initiatives
- Management of the FCO team’s regulatory obligations along with the daily operations of the Transaction Monitoring
- Issues management and remediation plans
- Optimise performance through demonstrated leadership which inspires.
- Providing BU customers with Financial Crime subject matter expertise support and advice, including via periodical external customer interactions
- This role requires engagement with internal teams within the Bank including Group Fraud, Financial Crime Compliance, Financial Crime Investigation Unit and more.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- You will be accountable for driving and overseeing day-to-day management and oversight of volumes, rosters, systems and workflow to ensure our overall service offering is consistently achieved, including strategies to reduce speed to case, this includes talking to variance.
- Enhance the team’s capability to effectively investigate and evaluate the Financial Crime risks presented by the Group’s customers on a case-by-case basis leading to high quality and easily consumable recommendations for Business Unit partners.
- You will set yourself and your direct reports to high standards with respect to operational rhythm, disciplines and practices always.
- Your team will be disciplined in ensuring daily forecasting of volume drivers along with FTE is always presented to run business as usual activities.
- You will be required to understand the business by providing insights into monthly reporting presented back to key senior stakeholders and working groups.
- You will manage the capability uplift of the team’s financial crime knowledge relating directly to AML/CTF processes as directed by the training team or executive manager clearly, evidencing attendance.
- You will manage and execute all remediation activity in line with the forecast which will include FTE and timeline requirements as per Riskin Site.
- You will manage and mitigate AML/CTF operational risk by partnering with key business stakeholders across the Group to escalate promptly keeping direct management informed.
- You will provide subject matter expertise to shape the implementation of Group policies and Standards.
- You will be responsible for the oversight and daily review of confirmed suspect activity to understand new and emerging trends, to ensure the bank’s AML/CTF operational management program is optimized. In the event of gaps and deficiencies, the risk should be escalated appropriately to senior management, along with recommended steps for remediation.
- You will always develop and champion a Continuous Improvement culture within the team and consistently look for new opportunities to further optimize and streamline existing processes.
- You will build effective relationships across multiple business units with Executive Managers and Senior Managers to enable high engagement, buy in and support for opportunities and process enhancements.
- You will ensure appropriate coaching, training and quality assurance programs exist to increase team productiveness, AML/CTF knowledge and to improve the quality of work.
- You will maintain an up-to-date focus on financial crime and security-related trends and emerging issues.
- Undertake any other tasks assigned by your manager that you have the capability to perform safely in line with relevant internal Group policies and external regulatory requirements.
Essential Skills:
- Experience in either compliance, AML/CTF, Sanctions role, Investigations or other Fraud related roles 8-10+ years.
- Relevant Experience: Senior Analyst in FCO CBAI & should have completed at least 2 appraisal cycles.
- TM & ECDD Experience Preferred
- Stakeholder Management: Experience in consulting with various stakeholders, including executives, department heads, and external partners.
- Experience in working in a face pace environment, operational where volume drivers are volatile
- Demonstrated ability to make decisions and solve problems to achieve optimum outcomes
- Highly capable in performing data analysis to understand/quantify risks, support decision making and building business cases
- Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and manage unexpected challenges.
Educational Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in business administration, management, finance, or a related field is typically required.
