Your Role: A Functional Expert Driving Finance Transformation
As a member of our Belfast-based service delivery team, you will move beyond simple system configuration to become a trusted advisor on financial process design and optimization. Responsibilities may include:
- Solution Design & Implementation: You will conduct deep-dive analyses of complex client requirements through virtual workshops and process mapping sessions. You will then translate these business needs into robust, scalable, and best-practice-aligned solution designs. Your hands-on work will involve configuring market-leading cloud applications (such as Oracle EPM/ERP, OneStream, Workday, etc.), building financial models, developing integration workflows, and creating sophisticated reports and dashboards that provide critical insights to our clients.
- Functional Solution Design: You will lead the functional design of financial systems. This involves conducting workshops with Controllers and FP&A Directors to define Chart of Accounts (CoA) structures, design financial consolidation logic, and map "Record-to-Report" or "Plan-to-Perform" processes. You will ensure the technology solution aligns strictly with accounting standards (IFRS/GAAP) and strategic reporting needs.
- Finance Transformation: You will advise clients on best-practice finance operating models. This includes streamlining period-end close cycles, automating reconciliation processes, and designing driver-based forecasting models that provide actionable commercial insights.
- Client Collaboration: Serving as the translator between IT and Finance, you will manage relationships with finance stakeholders across Europe. You will articulate how cloud solutions impact day-to-day accounting operations and strategic planning.
- Project Delivery: Manage specific functional workstreams (e.g., General Ledger, Consolidation, Planning) with autonomy. You will own the creation of functional specifications, user acceptance testing (UAT) scripts, and training materials for finance users.
- Onsite Engagement: While primarily based in Belfast (hybrid), you may travel to client sites across Europe for critical design workshops and go-live support, ensuring that the "human" side of finance transformation is managed effectively.
The Profile We're Looking For: A Self-Motivated Financial Change Consultant
We are looking for candidates who are accountants or finance professionals first, and technologists second. Required background includes:
- Experience: You have between 2 and 10 years of experience in Finance Transformation, FP&A, or Core Accounting, with exposure to implementing financial software.
- Professional Qualifications: A recognized accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA, CPA, ACA or European equivalent) is highly desirable. A deep understanding of financial statements, double-entry bookkeeping, and consolidation rules is essential.
- Essential Background: Experience within a Big 4, Finance Transformation practice, or a top-tier consulting firm is highly preferred. Alternatively, we welcome industry professionals (Finance Managers, Systems Accountants) with strong project experience.
- Functional & Technical Expertise: You possess a strong understanding of financial processes and have hands-on functional experience with one of the leading platforms:
o Financials: Oracle Cloud ERP (GL, AP, AR, FA), Workday Financials or SAP S/4HANA.
o EPM/FP&A: Oracle EPM (FCCS, PBSC), OneStream or Anaplan.
- Client-Facing Skills: You can discuss variance analysis with a Financial Controller as comfortably as you can discuss data integrations with an IT Lead. You excel at solving complex functional problems (e.g., intercompany eliminations, multi-currency reporting).
- Languages: Fluency in English is essential. Professional proficiency in another European language (German, French, Spanish, Dutch) is a desirable.
