Job Summary: This position is in the Office of Inspector General (OIG), Technology Services (TS), Data and Analytic Services (DAS), which is strategically positioned as an independent resource to provide ED-OIG with timely, reliable expert data analysis and retrieval capability using sophisticated research techniques in support of ongoing investigations, audits, financial analyses, evaluations, and proactive data analytics.

Degree: Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- finance, business administration, economics, accounting, insurance, engineering, mathematics, banking and credit, law, real estate operations, statistics, or other fields related to the position, such as agriculture, agricultural economics, farm, livestock or ranch management, or rural sociology. OR B. Specialized Experience: Experience such as performing financial analysis and evaluation work requiring a comprehensive knowledge of (1) corporate finance and any specialized fields of finance required such as public finance, securities, international finance, money and securities markets, investments, and banking, and (2) the financial and management structure, operations, and practices of corporate and other organizations. In addition to meeting the Basic Requirement above, the incumbent must also meet the minimum qualification requirements below. Minimum Qualification Requirements You may meet the minimum qualifications for the GS-14, if you possess the specialized experience described below. Specialized Experience for the GS-14 One year of experience in either federal or non-federal service that is equivalent to at least a GS-13 performing the following duties or work assignments: Experience utilizing a variety of audit analysis software (IDEA, ACL etc.) and must have used it on numerous audit, investigative or analysis activities. Knowledge and experience in risk assessment data modeling and developing fraud indicators. Knowledge and experience in applying ED's Title IV programs and activities especially the post-secondary programs. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) The quality of your experience will be measured by the extent to which you possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs). This position requires a mastery of analytical and technical concepts, principles, and theories and a mastery of the programs, activities, and functions of the Education Department for which the position is responsible. This position also requires advanced knowledge with certain software and programming language. This position requires skill in providing administrative and technical supervision, support, training, and guidance to a staff of auditors and financial analysts on matters involving a broad range of advanced data analytical techniques and research methodologies. The position also requires the individual to provide leadership in the evaluation, assessment, and improvement of the data analysis function and management systems by mastering a wide range of qualitative and quantitative techniques. The position requires the individual to have the needed skills to organize and communicate progress for on-going assignments in an effective and efficient manner. The position requires the individual to have the needed written communication skills to summarize and communicate in written form the work performed and results of that work in an effective and efficient manner.
