Job Description
The Financial Analyst will work directly with the Manager of Finance and Director of Finance, to support accurate and timely regulatory reporting to ensure compliance.
The successful candidate will bring critical thinking, a strong attention to detail and a desire to “dig in” to learn the business while being mindful of the strong culture and commitment of the Company to provide the best care possible for our patients and residents across Canada.
This position will be based at our Head Office in Markham, Ontario. Extendicare offers a hybrid working environment.
Accountabilities
Perform variance analysis across the general ledger accounts and financial reports
Prepare the Financial reports and respond to inquiries and requests.
Help prepare balance sheet reconciliations
Prepare annual reconciliations, including the identification of unearned or recoverable amounts payable to the Ministry of Health
Compile necessary documentation from various departments to support compliance reporting
Drive finance process improvement by applying a fresh perspective and creative problem solving
Manage auditor requests and submissions to external parties on behalf of the company
Complete other duties as assigned.
What we’re looking for:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
1–2 years of accounting/finance experience.
Working towards CPA designation (preferred).
Advance Excel skills.
Experience in identifying, investigating, analyzing, and reporting variances.
Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
