The Financial Analyst role is responsible for preparing sophisticated plan design proposals and financial analyses involving complex funding of non-qualified executive benefit programs including both acquisition of new clients and the ongoing servicing of current clients.
Section 2: Job Functions, Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Works closely with Senior Consultants to provide sophisticated plan modeling and funding solutions for non-qualified benefit plans, including, but not limited to deferred compensation and supplemental executive retirement plans.
- Develops and maintains relationships with insurance carriers who offer products in the non-qualified benefit plan marketplace and works to gain a thorough understanding of the various products and their applications to our clients.
- Utilizes insurance carrier software and internal programs to prepare accurate financial modeling for new and existing non-qualified executive benefit clients.
- Provides detailed modeling assumptions, analysis, recommendation and follow-up analysis on a timely basis.
- Participates in special projects to enhance productivity/efficiency and our suite of non-qualified services.
- Responsible for protecting, securing, and proper handling of all confidential data held by Newport to ensure against unauthorized access, improper transmission, and/or unapproved disclosure of information that could result in harm to Ascensus or our clients.

- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, or Mathematics
- 0 to 3 years of retirement services industry (or comparable) experience
- Proficient in use of Microsoft Office programs, especially Excel
- Ability to learn multiple insurance carrier software programs
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; detail-oriented
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Self-motivated and capable of initiating action
- Ability to collaborate with others and adapt to change
- Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently and adjust to change in priorities
