Purpose

The Financial Aid Officer for MBA and MS graduate students at the McCombs School of Business provides comprehensive advising and support on financial aid matters. This role exercises independent judgment in reviewing and resolving complex student cases, ensures compliance with Office of Student Financial Aid policies and federal regulations, prepares reports for graduate programs, and collaborates with campus partners to administer scholarships and other financial support programs.

Responsibilities

  • Administer special scholarship programs, working with admission team, financial aid team manager and scholarship committee. Determine specific scholarship awards for incoming and continuing full time MBA students. Manage data entry of endowment accounts, making scholarship awards, submitting awards for approval to Dean's Office and maintaining account balances to match funds allocated from Dean's Office.
  • Counsel, advise, and assist graduate students from 11 MBA and one-year masters programs, regarding their financial aid options, responsibilities, and processes. Effectively communicate with students regarding financial aid eligibility, need analysis and delivery system of financial aid funds. Daily communications via phone, email and in-person meetings with students. Outreach and presentations to current and prospective students about the student financial aid process and options.  
  • Prepare and review all paperwork for the students, including assistance with FAFSA applications, advising international students of financial aid options/restrictions, notifying students of revisions to their financial aid award due to scholarships, change in residency or taking reduced hours.  
  • Prepare and review forms and reports as required by individual programs for metrics, rankings etc. Work with billing and receivables on student account collections as needed.  
  • Support ongoing development and implementation of new technology resources to improve efficiency and service to students. Track efficient processing of financial aid across programs. Collect information and generate reports as required by program administrators to better manage student experience and accuracy of payment/billing process.  
  • Partner with Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid (OSFA) through escalation of student inquiries and/or issues that require triaging and specialized review and resolution to OSFA.  

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and three years of experience with financial aid and scholarships.
  • Prior experience working with students.
  • A working knowledge of federal and state financial aid regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision.
  • Excellent written and editing skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Detail oriented.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior UT experience.
  • Prior experience with UT SFA and LASSO.
  • Prior experience with the university mainframe system.

Salary Range

  • $55,000 + depending on qualifications

Working Conditions

  • May work under standard office conditions with repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation.
  • This is an Austin, Texas-based position.
