Finance Partner

Brisbane CBD Full time

Working at Transurban is different; it’s a place where you can see the benefits of your work play out in real life, every day. We create city‑sized solutions, building and operating safer, smarter, and more sustainable roads to solve pressing transport challenges that are slowing cities down.

About the role

We’re seeking a Finance Partner to provide strategic financial insight and commercial support across our Finance, Governance and Corporate Services, NSW Business, and QLD Business units. Based in Brisbane, this role plays a pivotal part in shaping financial outcomes, improving operational performance, and supporting key decision‑making across the organisation.

You’ll work closely with senior leaders including the General Manager and Group Executive to identify opportunities that enhance revenue, optimise costs, and strengthen financial performance. From business case development to scenario modelling and strategic analysis, you’ll be a trusted advisor who helps drive sustainable value across the business.

It’s meaningful, challenging, and high‑impact work that contributes directly to the success of our operations and long‑term strategy.

Day-to-day, you will:

  • Identify and evaluate commercial improvement opportunities, supporting prioritisation, resourcing, funding, and business case development.

  • Analyse opex, maintenance, and capital expenditure, conduct scenario modelling, and provide financial input for major projects, procurement, and investment decisions.

  • Lead post‑implementation reviews, track benefits, and embed learnings across capital and operational initiatives.

  • Review and challenge budget assumptions, support capital planning, and assess major operating and capital expenditure for cost‑effectiveness.

  • Provide financial insights by partnering with Reporting, Forecasting and Analytics teams, including cost driver analysis, benchmarking, and monthly reporting commentary.

  • Monitor performance against strategic goals and work with leaders to develop actions that support delivery of business plans.

  • Build strong relationships across Finance, Governance and Corporate Services, ensuring compliance with management and investor agreements.

  • Champion a One Finance mindset, drive continuous improvement, and uphold HSE policies to support a safe and efficient working environment

This role will suit someone with a curious mind and transferrable skills, including:

  • Tertiary qualifications in accounting, finance, or commerce, plus professional accreditation (CPA, ICA, CFA, or similar).

  • Strong financial modelling, budgeting, and forecasting capability.

  • Advanced Excel skills and strong numeracy.

  • Experience supporting capital and maintenance project environments.

  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • High attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.

  • Experience preparing business cases, process documentation, and improvement recommendations.

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively to achieve outcomes.

  • Confidence advising senior management on financial issues and project impacts.

If you meet some of these requirements, but not all, we encourage you to submit your application.

With a career at Transurban, you’ll enjoy a range of benefits, including:

  • Flexible working and leave options, including the ability to purchase up to six additional weeks of leave each year.

  • 16 weeks paid parental leave for all parents, with superannuation paid during unpaid leave.

  • Learning and development opportunities to support your career growth.

  • Health and wellbeing support, including access to Headspace, EAP, and wellness facilities.

  • Share offers and insurance benefits.

  • Social activities, community programs, and paid volunteer days.

We embrace diversity with a foundation of safety, wellbeing, and inclusion—where everyone belongs. We treat everyone with fairness, respect, and consideration, regardless of background or identity. We want all candidates to feel comfortable expressing ideas, questions, and concerns.

We strongly encourage applications from candidates of diverse backgrounds and lived experiences, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and people living with disability.
