This position serves as a R&D Finance Partner, supporting both the global R&D and the transformation agenda as well as the end-to-end financial management of a portfolio of pharmaceutical diagnostic assets. The role is pivotal in shaping and executing product strategies, driving financial performance, and enabling business transformation through robust financial leadership and cross-functional collaboration.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Financial Leadership & Business Partnering

  • Act as a trusted advisor to R&D and asset project leads, providing actionable financial insights to inform product strategy, development, and market access.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including R&D, Medical Affairs, Regulatory, Product & Marketing to evaluate the financial impact of initiatives and ensure alignment with business objectives.

  • Lead the development of business cases and financial models to support investment decisions, launch readiness, and lifecycle management for assets in scope.

  • Facilitate the translation of operational insights into financial outcomes, supporting both current year P&L and long-term strategic delivery.

Portfolio / Asset Performance Management

  • Oversee the financial planning and analysis for assigned assets or consolidation, including profitability analysis, scenario planning, and resource allocation.

  • Monitor and report on the global P&L for assets, ensuring transparency in expenditure, clinical study budgets, and performance against targets.

  • Utilise market data and competitive intelligence to inform recommendations, manage financial risk, and drive continuous improvement in financial performance.

  • Support the definition and tracking of KPIs for assets, holding teams accountable for delivery and proactively identifying risks and opportunities.

Transformation & Process Optimisation

  • Lead or contribute to finance transformation projects, including the integration of digital tools, automation of reporting, and process improvement initiatives as well as the embedding of Heartbeat and DMS process in 2026.

  • Champion the adoption of advanced analytics and reporting platforms (e.g., PowerBI) to enhance the granularity and timeliness of financial insights.

  • Partner with IT and global finance teams to streamline accruals, reporting, and forecasting processes, embedding best practices and driving efficiency.

Strategic Planning & Budget Cycles

  • Develop and maintain robust financial models to support forecasting, budgeting, and strategic planning cycles (WWPP, LTS).

  • Conduct periodic reviews of long-range forecasts, stress-testing assumptions and supporting leadership presentations for senior sign-off.

  • Lead the construction and review of global asset budgets, ensuring alignment with organisational ambition and risk appetite.

Cross-Functional Influence & Change Catalyst

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with senior stakeholders, acting as a catalyst for change and a peer in business decision-making.

  • Advise on the alignment of short-term actions with long-term strategy, ensuring financial discipline and strategic focus.

  • Where applicable partner with supply chain finance to support volume forecasting, supply strategy, and the financial implications of operational decisions.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree in Economics, Business, Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.

  • Significant experience in financial leadership roles within R&D, Corporate or Commercial Finance, ideally in a global matrix environment.

  • Demonstrated expertise in financial modelling, business case development, and performance management.

  • Proven track record in process improvement, digital transformation, and the use of analytics tools.

  • Strong communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills across multiple levels and functions.

  • Experience with supply chain finance and understanding of global business processes is advantageous.
