Who we are looking for:

ASCO is seeking a Finance Operations Intern to support the Finance team, with hands-on exposure to Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and the full revenue cycle with a mission-driven nonprofit setting.

This immersive internship is designed to provide meaningful, project-based experience that supports financial accuracy, operational efficiency, and cross functional collaboration across the organization. And will provide direct exposure to how finance functions as a central hub supports the entire organization.

Internship activities include:

  • Gain hands-on experience across the revenue cycle, supporting financial accuracy and timely processing 
  • Assist the Accounts Payable team by reviewing vendor and individual invoices and processing payments in the system of record, helping maintain strong partner relationships and timely financial transactions 
  • Support accounts receivable reconciliation by comparing system of record data with CRM and external partner statements to ensure financial accuracy and integrity 
  • Contribute to finance projects focused on improving operational efficiency, including reviewing policies, identifying optimization opportunities, and participating in technology-driven workflow enhancements 
  • Actively follow up with customers on overdue payments and ensure accurate application of deposits and credits to customer accounts 
  • Gain hands-on experience across the revenue cycle, supporting financial accuracy and timely processing 
  • Assist the Accounts Payable team by reviewing vendor and individual invoices and processing payments in the system of record, helping maintain strong partner relationships and timely financial transactions 
  • Support accounts receivable reconciliation by comparing system of record data with CRM and external partner statements to ensure financial accuracy and integrity 
  • Contribute to finance projects focused on improving operational efficiency, including reviewing policies, identifying optimization opportunities, and participating in technology-driven workflow enhancements  
  • Other reporting and administrative activities as needed. 

Required qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate BA/BS degree program, or graduate program, or recently graduated from a 4-year degree program. Candidates must be at least a junior or entering their junior year of college at the start of the internship.
  • Pursuing a degree in finance, accounting, information technology or related field 
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy 
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team as well as independently 
  • Experience with the Microsoft Office Suite (365 preferred); proficient in Microsoft Excel 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with flexibility to adapt to changing needs 
  • Solid organizational and time management skills and attention to detail  
  • Excellent customer service skills and professionalism  
  • Willingness to enhance skills  

Duration: 10 weeks during the summer – June 8, 2026 to August 14, 2026. This internship is 37.5 hours per week.  

Compensation: This summer internship position is paid at a rate of $20/hour for actual hours worked. Additionally, ASCO will provide parking or a metro subsidy.

Location: This internship is based in Alexandria, VA and will require working onsite the majority of the time with some offsite work flexibility. Candidates should reside in the D.C. metro area or be able to relocate at their own expense. If you are not able to work at ASCO Headquarters, please do not apply.
