Finance Manager - Western Europe

The Finance manager – Western Europe will be responsible for financial management of the Western European business entities, providing day-to-day financial support to the Finance Director, Group and Romania. This means managing monthly financial reporting and analysis, ensuring monthly accounting processes are completed in a timely fashion including accounting oversight, reconciliations, internal controls, and statutory reporting.
 
What you will be doing : 

Management Accounting & Analysis:

  • Manage month-end closing processes, including journal entries, checking and posting of salaries, ensuring accruals and prepayments are posted accurately and reporting.
  • Prepare variance analysis to prior periods to ensure costs are correctly captured in the correct reporting period.
  • Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances.
Financial Reporting & Compliance:
  • Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial and statutory reports for the region, ensuring compliance with local policies and group standards like IFRS or GAAP.
  • Ensure consistent application of accounting and standards across UK/EU entities.

Statutory Accounts Preparation:

  • Coordinate annual financial audits across jurisdictions and ensure audit readiness.
  • Liaise with the external auditors/accountants and be responsible for providing samples and reconciliations to the auditors for UK and European entities.

Process Improvement & Controls:

  • Design, operate, and maintain the safeguarding control framework, including daily reconciliations and timely investigation of discrepancies.
  • Prepare and coordinate the annual independent safeguarding audit and track implementation of recommendations.
  • Work closely with Legal, Compliance, and Risk to embed strong financial and safeguarding controls across processes.

Other tasks :

  • Support with the development of a high performing, passionate finance team operating at both part and qualified levels (3 direct reports) across Europe
  • Oversee treasury and liquidity management and ensuring adequate funding.
  • Produce and submit all required taxation regulatory returns.
  • Engagement in projects supporting our Finance Transformation agenda.
  • Manage cash flow, working capital performance, and balance sheet accuracy

We are looking for someone who :

  • Has minimum 8 years’ experience in finance, accounting, or treasury.
  • Has experience working in a firm authorised by both the FCA and DNB (or other EU regulators).
  • Is a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, RA, or equivalent). 
  • Has a strong understanding of multi-currency safeguarding and cross-border finance.
  • Has excellent analytical and reporting skills; confident liaising with stakeholders and auditors.
  • Has exceptional attention to detail, integrity, and accountability.
  • Has strong technical accounting and financial analysis skills.
  • Has advanced Excel / modelling capability.
  • Has previous experience in a centre of excellence or shared service centre is a bonus.
