Role Title: Finance Manager

Role Description: The Finance Manager operates within a collaborative framework involving Defence stakeholders, program management offices, procurement teams, and contractors to provide comprehensive financial and procurement support to a complex, high-value program.

The role will involve:
•    Developing financial documentation to support Government RCI submissions, based on scenarios provided by the RCI team
•    Supporting the preparation of costing uncertainty data for contest-ability and financial investigation services
•    Tracking and updating monthly budget spend in collaboration with the PSO and updating cost data for PPRIP
•    Drafting monthly cost and budget commentary for PM review
•    Maintaining and balancing the main budget spreadsheet, including all associated links and data processing
•    Reviewing and processing updated financial reports from the Finance team on a weekly and monthly basis
•    Updating Finance with relevant budget requirements based on schedule changes and PM requests
•    Preparing financial data to support monthly PPRIP reporting and biannual Budget and Additional Estimates exercises
•    Reviewing and updating purchase orders (POs) in MYFI, including stale commitment re-forecasting
•    Managing the Financial Mailbox, including invoice approvals under PM direction
•    Liaising regularly with PM, PSO, Project Controller, Scheduler, and Finance teams to ensure accuracy of financial data and phasing forecasts
•    Conducting weekly meetings with PM/PSO to review financial requirements
•    Monitoring prime and major POs weekly for exchange rate and schedule changes
•    Participating in fortnightly project meetings to review budget impacts of project changes
•    Engaging with high-level stakeholders regarding budget requirements, funds availability, and financial reviews
•    Tracking milestone payments and ensuring timely contractor payments
•    Liaising with the prime contractor on invoicing and contracted financial requirements
•    Coordinating with Finance on upcoming payments under the contract

Essential Requirements:
•    Strong experience in financial management within complex project environments
•    Experience preparing financial documentation for government submissions
•    Advanced spreadsheet management and budget tracking skills
•    Ability to process reports, POs, and invoices accurately and promptly
•    Capability to support monthly and biannual reporting cycles
•    Ability to manage and reconcile large data-sets and linked spreadsheets
•    Organised, responsive, and able to manage competing priorities and respond to short-notice financial tasks
•    Excellent verbal and written communication skills
•    Ability to develop and maintain positive stakeholder relationships across Defence, industry, and across the project and finance teams

Desirable Requirements:
•    ADF or APS Defence background
•    Understanding of Defence procurement and financial frameworks
•    Familiarity with contest-ability and financial investigation processes
•    Experience supporting government submissions and financial governance processes
•    Proficiency in MYFI or similar financial systems, or the ability to learn this system quickly

This role operates within a dynamic, high-tempo project environment. The successful candidate will demonstrate experience in complex, fast-paced settings, preferably within Defence or similarly regulated sectors, and a willingness to adapt and contribute flexibly as required.

Weekly Hours: 80 hour flexible fortnight
