We’re looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Finance Manager to join our Toronto office. This role oversees the month-end close process, ensures the accuracy of financial results, and supports continuous improvements across the finance function. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams and play a key role in strengthening financial controls and delivering meaningful insights.
Key Responsibilities:
Month-End Close & Reporting:
Manage the month-end close calendar, processes, and timelines.
Monitor the month-end checklist and work with team members to ensure all tasks are completed on schedule.
Review and approve journal entries with appropriate documentation and accuracy.
Review entity-level and consolidated trial balances and provide commentary on period-over-period movement.
Review accountants’ completeness check analyses and ensure issues are addressed promptly.
Review aging of balance sheet accounts to identify risk areas, unusual activity, and accounts requiring further investigation.
Review and sign off on balance sheet reconciliations; ensure standardized formats and consistent quality.
Perform P&L actual vs. forecast analysis and year-over-year variance analysis.
Present key monthly financial insights to the Corporate Controller and senior leadership.
Other Ad hoc duties
Process Improvement & Controls
Evaluate month-end processes and identify opportunities to streamline, automate, or improve accuracy.
Lead the development and implementation of a standardized balance sheet reconciliation format.
Strengthen internal controls and support compliance with company policies and accounting standards
Audit & Compliance
Assist with interim and year-end external audits, including preparation of supporting schedules and responses to auditor requests.
Support accounting policy updates, documentation, and ad-hoc technical accounting matters.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with business units and FP&A to align on forecasts, actuals, key drivers, and business performance insights.
Collaborate with systems, operations, and other teams to improve financial data integrity and reporting capabilities.
People Leadership
Provide ongoing mentoring, training, and guidance to accountants and other finance team members.
Support onboarding, development, and continuous learning within the finance team.
Encourage a culture of curiosity, problem-solving, and proactive thinking across the team.
Offer clear feedback and help team members strengthen technical proficiency and analytical skills.
Skills & Qualifications:
Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation
7+ years experience in a corporate accounting environment
Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
Advanced Excel skills; experience with ERP systems (NetSuite, Workday,, Oracle, etc.) is an asset.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work effectively with cross-functional stakeholders.
High attention to detail with a continuous improvement mindset.
