As a Finance Manager, you will be joining an established team of Financial Accountants and Finance Assistants as part of our wider finance function with up to two direct reports. This is a role that offers plenty of variety with a strong focus on achieving high quality deliverables within a complex environment. Based in Wellington and reporting into our Head of Finance – Markets, you will work in close partnership with internal stakeholders at all levels of the business to support in driving overall success and future readiness for FNZ.

We are searching for a candidate ideally CA qualified (or equivalent) with experience in navigating complexities ideally within a multinational organisation and is comfortable operating at a senior level and a critical member of a highly responsive and engaged team. To achieve success in this role, you will need strong technical accounting and reporting skills combined with the ability to think strategically and foster positive relationships across your portfolio. This role is critical in supporting the annual statutory and regulatory audit processes for the APAC Markets entities. It also provides essential financial control, underpinning month-end activities and overseeing all Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Banking functions for the Markets business.

The responsibilities will include:  

  • Assume full ownership of the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Oversee and manage audit processes to meet regulatory and internal standards.
  • Maintain effective control over banking operations, Accounts Payable (AP), and Accounts Receivable (AR).
  • Managing regulatory compliance with ASX/ASIC participant guidelines
  • Provide analytical and operational support to the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) function.
  • Manage relationships with a customer base comprising the Markets team located in Australia and globally.
  • Liaise with the global group team to ensure alignment with corporate policies and procedures.
  • Oversee the internal and external audit process, acting as a key point of contact.
  • Support and mentor the immediate team of direct reports inclusive of goal setting and managing performance.
  • Support the preparation and review of tax returns – income tax, GST, FBT and Payroll tax.

What are we ideally looking for in a successful candidate:

  • CA qualified or equivalent with continuous improvement and growth mindset.
  • Current or prior experience in CA firm or corporate.
  • Prior experience in managing the audit process.
  • Strong technical accounting (IFRS) and reporting skills.)
  • Fluent in Microsoft excel
  • Microsoft Navision or D365 experience would be beneficial
  • Proven leadership qualities with the ability to build constructive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Execution, clearing and settlement knowledge with the ASX or a similar exchange is an advantage.
  • Experience in a growth orientated environment.
  • Ability to work effectively with stakeholders across multiple regions, including Australia and global teams.
  • A proactive networker who can operate autonomously with logical decision-making skills.
