Purpose / Role:

We are looking for a detail‑oriented and analytically minded Finance Intern to support our Project Accounting function in Vancouver. This role will focus on the financial management of live projects, supporting accurate cost tracking, WIP reporting, forecasting, and project performance reporting within a professional services environment.

This internship provides hands‑on exposure to project‑based finance and is ideal for students interested in developing a career in project accounting, management accounting, or commercial finance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support project accounting activities, including cost tracking, job costing, and financial performance monitoring
  • Assist with the preparation and maintenance of Work in Progress (WIP), accruals, and revenue recognition data
  • Support monthly project reporting, including analysis of actuals vs budget and forecast
  • Assist project accountants and finance managers with project setup, updates, and financial controls
  • Help review project financial data to identify variances, risks, and data integrity issues
  • Support forecasting updates based on project performance and changes in scope or programme
  • Assist with invoicing support, reconciliations, and financial system data checks
  • Provide ad‑hoc analysis and administrative support to the Project Finance team

Education & Experience

  • Currently studying (or recently completed) a degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business, or a related discipline
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills with a high level of attention to detail
  • Good working knowledge of Excel (pivot tables, lookups; basic financial modelling an asset)
  • Comfortable analysing data and clearly communicating findings
  • Well organised, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Genuine interest in project accounting or professional services finance
  • Exposure to project‑based environments (professional services, consulting, engineering, architecture, construction, etc.) is an advantage
  • Familiarity with concepts such as WIP, revenue recognition, cost control, and project margins (academic or practical)
  • Experience using finance or ERP systems is helpful but not essential
