Are you looking for a Finance Internship at People's Natural Gas, a subsidiary of Essential Utilities? We are currently hiring for a full-time intern available from May through August!

Support the accounting, rates and finance activities of the organization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Support the maintenance of the Company’s Accounting records in compliance with GAAP and Regulatory Accounting standards which could include anything from bank account reconciliations and preparation of journal entries to redesign of complicated excel models.
  • Assists with other tasks or projects as assigned which can range from routine projects to the solving of more complex problems or support in preparing presentations for executives.
  • Should expect a tailored approach based on current needs of the business.           
  • Participate in closing functions with parent company under supervision of lead accountant.                             

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Student pursuing Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in accounting, finance or related field.
  • Must be currently enrolled in college and must have completed (at least) their sophomore year with a specific or relevant major and a GPA greater than 3.0.
  • Intellectually curious and adaptable.
  • Demonstrated strength in attention-to-detail.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong computer skills (Excel, PowerPoint,), problem assessment and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to evaluate large data sets and manage data to support accounting systems, budgeting and cost control principles.                       
  • Strong communication (oral and written) skills.                              
  • Ability to produce and manage several projects in a quality and timely manner.              

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Student pursuing a Bachelor degree in accounting/finance or related field.
  • Demonstrated experience and skill in attention-to-detail.            
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local relevant regulations.                                     

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Working conditions may include approximately 10% travel to work sites of PNG & PTWP and/or other constituents.    
  • Perform sedentary work- exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.                                    
  • See, hear, talk, and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity.
  • Operate standard office equipment.
