About the Position

As the Finance Business Analyst for MCAO, you will be responsible for complex accounting, budgeting, and financial analysis of each of the department’s nine funds, together totaling more than $150 million. We Require

  • Two years of experience in a professional level accounting or finance role

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Budget, or a related field

  • A combination of post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications on a year-for-year basis.

Other Requirements

  • Prior to hire, MCAO requires all candidates to complete a thorough background check and pass a drug screening

Job Contributions

  • Coordinates professional level research, analysis, planning, development and forecasting of departmental financial activities

  • Assists with the completion of monthly financial forecasts, analyze significant or unusual budget variances, and ensure expenditures stay within appropriated budget limits.

  • Coordinate the annual budget preparation, develop supplemental documents, meet with leadership, and assist with the completion of all required deliverables

  • Performs complex reviews, reconciliations and allocations as needed

  • Formulates and applies a variety of complex statistical models to analyze and monitor department financial activities

  • Creates and updates/maintains/combines large spreadsheets and databases and performs quality control of the information within

  • Performs monthly reconciliations and pcard reviews

  • Analyzes financial activities, identifies inconsistencies, researches discrepancies, and initiates corrections as needed

  • Reviews and approves payments, deposits and/or accounting entries in applicable accounting systems as needed

  • Assists with month-end and year-end processing functions

Working Conditions

  • Office setting with long periods of sitting and computer work

  • Requires the ability to work with frequent interruptions, time pressures, high volumes of work, handle multiple or unscheduled tasks, frequently changing tasks, high accuracy/attention to detail, and concentration/vigilance

  • Must be able to perform either independently or in a team environment and interact professionally and tactfully with vendors, coworkers, and supervisors

  • Hybrid office/telecommute schedule with up to 16 hours working from home is available at the discretion of the supervisor, consistent with established policies, after six months of employment with MCAO
