Role Overview

We are seeking a Finance Assistant to join the team on a 3-month fixed term contract to support a period of increased workload and assist in clearing a backlog within the finance function.

Reporting to the Management Accountant, this role will focus primarily on supporting the accounts payable process, ensuring timely and accurate processing of supplier invoices, expenses, and payment runs.

This is a hands-on role requiring someone who can quickly adapt, work efficiently, and make an immediate contribution.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the end-to-end accounts payable process during a high-volume period
  • Match purchase invoices to purchase orders, checking coding, discrepancies, and approvals
  • Accurately input invoices into the accounting system in a timely manner
  • Assist with the preparation of bi-weekly aged creditors reports and recommended payment runs
  • Support the processing of bi-weekly company payment runs
  • Respond to supplier queries and liaise with internal teams to resolve issues promptly
  • Monitor the expense system to ensure timely and accurate processing of corporate card expenses
  • Import corporate card data into the accounting system and ensure appropriate approvals are in place
  • Assist with processing new supplier forms and setting up suppliers on the system
  • Provide general support to the finance team, including ad-hoc tasks as required to help clear backlog

 

Skills and Experience

  • Previous experience in an accounts payable or finance assistant role
  • Strong administrative and organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to manage a high volume of work accurately and efficiently
  • Good numerical and data entry skills
  • Experience using financial systems (we use Synergist and Accounts IQ)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, particularly Excel
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to prioritise tasks, work to deadlines, and manage workload effectively
  • Proactive approach with strong problem-solving skills
